I don't think it would be too difficult to make a ray that checks to make sure there's more than one of an object present, and that it doesn't fall within certain categories (ie. creatures, toys) before killing it. It would be really neat to make it ricochet if it hits the wall/floor/ceiling. |

Okay, since everyone's so eager to move on from the Cheese Dispenser, I've added the finialised idea to the Wiki page. I hope Moe's okay with our sprite concept though: Provisionally, the cheese dispenser will look like a statue of a Grendel holding out its claws. When pushed, a random variety of cheese will fall from its mouth and into its claws, where creatures can then pick it up. The more cheese that's ordered, the more extra pieces will drop. I should probably point out that in the column, the Atomiser Cannon is a banana (the question from 'Jac... Erm... Random Norn'). |

Sorry to sound like a complete spoilsport, but I'll admit I'm not keen about having the Atomizer Cannon included in this pack; I don't consider it to be a feature of Ask Laura. When I first wrote about it, years ago, it was just a silly idea that I made up for the sheer hell of it (I think I was stuck for ideas) and since then I haven't really written about it, or referred back to it, in my responses. I think what also puts me off is how easily any ideas for the cannon could become farfetched and complicated, because it's a weapon - and whose imagination doesn't run wild when they're playing with toy guns? However, if it could just be a simple toy with a neon-coloured beam that 'obliviates' duplicate objects, and bounces off the walls and ceiling for a fun effect (like Ghosthande suggested), then I might be convinced. |

It could be sorda like the ice gun in c2! No real harm but also fun! Edit: Also maybe it could shoot a banana  that would ricoche of the walls for an amount of time unless it hits somthing. Then it would squish onto it and dissapear! No pain and a gain! The hit creature as well as the activating creature would get less boerd and more pleasure also the hit creature gets less hungry!woulden't want that good food ta go to waste! Yay! Personally I would not want to see a gun of any sort or description in the Ask Laura pack. Shouldn't the pack consist only of notable, recurring or unique themes and objects? I haven't seen hide nor hair of an atom gun. |

The Atomizer Cannon is there, you just have to sieve through the column's earlier entries to find it. I agree that it's not a regular feature though.To reiterate my previous post, I'm only for the cannon being included if it's a simple toy: ... with a neon-coloured beam that 'obliviates' duplicate objects, and bounces off the walls and ceiling for a fun effect. I agree with Mousienorn's above post and Laura's idea of it being a glorified laser pointer toy. Sounds like a great departure form the hundreds of rubber balls and musical stuff that most people code to entertain their norns. edit: look! |

Oh good lord... I forgot that image (and those huge glasses!) even existed. Have we finished with the Atomiser Cannon now? I don't think the sprites need much discussion; they could be pretty straightforward. Just to recap: The Atomiser Cannon. A simple toy ray gun for your Norns to play with. Its neon beam 'obliviates' duplicate objects, checking beforehand to make sure that there's more than one of an object present, and that it doesn't fall within certain categories (ie. creatures, toys). The beam also ricochets off the walls and ceiling for an added fun effect. A Norn's happiness is increased when the Atomiser Cannon is activated, as though watching the beam bounce off everything amuses them. |

What is that on the horizon? Trouble afoot! Right. Since Laura and I share a Mental Synergy Node (MSN) we had a bit of a chat and decided that I'm going to handle the following issue: Someone has been impatient. Since the item pack takes a lot of coordination and organizing, it has been specifically stated nobody but Laura herself could edit the creatures wiki page to add an item to the list. Sadly, someone has added the atomizer cannon to the list despite all this. Because I am a big meanie, I decided it would be prudent to remove the cannon from the list of items to be included in the pack until someone apologizes to Laura in their next post. I realize this is unfair to most of you since you guys did nothing wrong, but if one person decides to do hasty things despite being asked not to, that's not fair to anyone. Also, Laura and I are a superhero mod team, so I am totally allowed to do this. You just don't see me do things a lot since I tend to work below the surface. I am... AquaShee! *sound of rushing water* And to you, Sam999: I know you just meant to speed things along and tried to help, but your impatience and boundless enthusiasm can be a bit bothersome. Thank you for the apology, sam999. With a project like this one, it pays to take our time over our ideas and not rush things. The rule about editing the Wiki page was established in order that everything stays orderly, and also to enable me to keep up with the progress.I've re-added the Atomizer Cannon to the list, so onto our next idea. What could that be? Let's compile some suggestions to choose from? |

We have the Tea Shee sample dispenser, crayon plant, grendel cheese and Grendel Hide Couch. AquaShee and I have come up with a couple of ideas, using our 'Mental Synergy Node' (MSN): 'A Standardised Ask Laura Love Letter' - just fill in the blanks and your Norn's secret crush will be swept of their feet! Increases their sex drive and friendliness. 'Script Norn's Finger Puppets' - a toy that consists of a set of [fairytale themed?] finger puppets and a Hand doll. The Hand doll points up, and you can drop a finger puppet onto it to make it wear it. Clicking the Hand doll then makes it quote a piece of story relevant to the finger puppet its wearing. |
