I would love to be able to put tea leaves (dispensed from a bowl) into the teapot to make different flavours. If this is not feasible, I think the steam punk teapot is a good idea. |

Great suggestions, thank you! I look forward to hearing Moe's take on all our ideas. Then we'll know what's easy and possible and what's not.
I still really like AquaShee's tea set and table idea too. I think it'll really add that kitch and cosy Tea Shoppe feel, especially if we incorporated Razgriz's idea by having the mismatched teacups. |

I don't think the cups should break. It should be a full set of resuable cups, I like the idea of them being mismatched, that can be filled with tea and be put on the table. An empty cup is classed as 'gadget' (so ettins will nick them) while a full one is classed as "Food" with some steam showing that it is full. This way you can hold actual tea parties with your norns.

I'm interested to learn how the tea pouring would work. |

I'm no coder, but it seems to be possible. C2toDS has pouring beehives/honey, I suspect that the teapot would simply work the same way, but only when held over a teacup, or pushed. Seems relatively straightforward to me. |

That's correct. I get the feeling I actually did something like that before, but can't remember what it was. But it is possible to make a teapot pour automatically when held and when touching a teacup, and obviously just putting the cup next to it and clicking it is even easier.

I prefer the held approach, though... It makes it feel more like really pouring. Hold the teapot, and when the spout is close enough to a cup, it tips a bit further and fills the cup.
The main idea is holding an actual tea party 'with' your norns, just be careful when they put on Ettin outfits and begin jettisoning crates of tea from the Ark.

Or demanding tax cuts....
So, what would the sprites of the teapot and cups look like? How do you tell a full cup from an empty one? Would we have smaller different pots for cream and sugar? How about coffee. |
AquaShee

1) Their looks are up to the spriter, most likely they'd look like a teapot and cups.
2) Already answered
3) Probably not. Elegance is in simplicity.
4) Coffee is utterly irrelevant to the topic.

If we were to go with the suggestion of dropping ingredients into the pot, we could probably just do it with the fruits, seeds, various other edible things that come with ds and c3, and there could be something on the pot you could click to reset it to fill it with other ingredient. Here I guess the steampunk design would come in handy because it might make it easier to put a button on it and have it look nice.

Wow, this Tea Shee tea set is really starting to take shape! I love the tea-pouring idea overall, if it can be pulled off easily enough and Moe is happy to code it.
So, to recap on the concept so far:
Tea Shee Tea Set. A tea set with four mismatched teacups, a teapot and a table. Holding the teapot, and putting the spout close enough to a cup, tips the teapot, which begins filling a cup with tea. A cup steams when it is full.
A full cup is classed as 'food', while an empty cup is classed as a 'gadget' that Ettins can steal. Drinking the tea decreases thirst and increases happiness?
As for filling the teapot with ingredients, would that make the agent complicated, or would it be fun and easy? If it's the latter, I quite like the idea of having teabags (or 'complimentary samples' as they're called in the column) that we could say are different flavours; Pumperspikel Seed and Quirky Cookie should definitely be two of them. |
xrainxofxbloodx
|
2/22/2011 | |
Why not just classify it as a potion?
I think the teabags would make it complicated. Cause teabags obviously aren't in the game so we'd have to make those too. And if we do that we'd have to chose whether to make one vendor that dispenses random flavors, or a vendor for each flavor. The former would be frustrating if someone wanted a particular flavor, the former would be cluttery.

How about a series of shelves? When you take a bag off one of the shelves, another one falls into place. I know the object kit in C1toDS does something like that. |

We should finish discussing the Tea Shee Tea set before we move onto other ideas.
Shelves? Which Ask Laura is that from?
xrainxofxbloodx: A lot of agents people make aren't previously in the game. However, I can see how dropping various fruits and seeds into the teapot may be easier. I guess we don't have to have specific flavours either. I'd really like to hear Moe's opinion on this.
Also, I don't think classifing the tea as a 'Potion' would sound very appealing or appetising, especially when tea is so delicious. |

The shelves AREN'T from Ask Laura, it's for the tea bags.

Sorry for not being more active. These next few weeks are going to be really busy for me. I will get back to you guys! Keep up the great work. I kinda like what you've got going for the teapot. Would be neat to be able to "brew" your own teas from existing ingredients. Like a Quirky Tea Machine? |

No worries, Moe.
Yeah, I see how it would be better to put ingredients (fruit, seeds, cheese...) into the teapot, rather than teabags, just for simplicity's sake. Would be more fun too. The Tea Shee can be quite experimental with his flavours anyway, with his 'sugar cookie' and 'gingerbread' concoctions. |

To make this more visual, I think the teapot should open its lid when offering it an item it can accept. When things are put in, a little teabag label appears hanging out of the pot, with the colour indicating the current ingredients. (Start with black tea, fruit adds red, seeds add green, food adds blue?)
When nothing has been put in for about a minute or so, the pot will begin to steam, ready to pour.

We'll have to ask moe if he'll use the steampunk teapot or a normal one when he next comes around. Hopefully steampunk as that would be cool.
Also, maybe the vendor should have a few different types of cheese it makes at random when pushed? Any idea what sorts? |

So, a final overview of the Tea Shee Tea Set concept for Moe and the Wiki page:
Tea Shee Tea Set. A tea set with four mismatched teacups, a teapot and a table.
The teapot can be filled with various ingredients - food, fruit, seeds - to make different concoctions of tea. The teapot lid opens when its offered an ingredient it can accept. When things are put in, a little teabag label appears hanging out of the pot, with the colour indicating the current ingredients; for example, food: blue, seeds: green and fruit: red. Drinking the tea decreases thirst and increases happiness.
Holding the teapot, and putting the spout close enough to a cup, tips the teapot, which begins filling a cup with tea. A cup steams when it is full. A full cup is classed as 'food', while an empty cup is classed as a 'gadget' that Ettins can steal.
I'll let Moe decide on the sprites for the teapot and such, though the Steampunk theme seems to be in popular demand... I don't even know what Steampunk is!
Onto the Cheese Appreciation Day Dispenser... I like Mousienorn's idea of having green cheese that both Grendels and Norns will enjoy. Cheese dispensers aren't often very exciting, so at least having green cheese would be something different. |

It would. Maybe we could have a button that switches between toxic and normal. |
