Once you've unzipped the .creature file - if you're playing C3 or DS, the file goes into your "My Creatures" folder, but if you're playing C1 or C2, it goes into the main directory. Then you just have to import it into your game. |

On C3 or DS if it is zipped, I go to Program Files/ Program Files x86 and put it in the My Agents, they don't show up in my import section if I don't put them in the My Agents file.

Okay, slow and detailed guide how to adopt creatures on C3/DS:
1. Get any Creature from the website of your choice.
2. Use a file browser and go with it to the folder you saved the download to.
3. Usually they come as ZIP or RAR archive. Unpack it.
4. sometimes a folder pops now up, but not always. However, you should get now a .creature file or a .ds.creature file.
5. Cut or Copy the file
6. Go to the folder you installed C3 or DS to.
7. Paste the file into the subfolder "My Creatures"
8. Start up the game
9. Import the adopted creature and have fun with it.

While in your game, press the 'Print Screen' (or 'Prt Scn') button on your keyboard once to take a screenshot of your chosen creature. Next, open an image program, (like 'Microsoft Paint') and hit Ctrl+V on your keyboard to paste your screenshot into it. Then save it as a .jpg file.
Please note, that the recommended dimensions for adoption images is 120 x 150 pixels. For example, your adoption image should ideally be the size of this one:

Next, export the creature from your game, and then copy and paste its .creature file (or they're called .exp files if the creature’s exported from C1 or C2) into a zipped folder by right-clicking anywhere on your Desktop background, scrolling to 'New' and selecting 'Compressed (Zipped) Folder'. Then copy and paste the .creature file inside it.
Once you've done that, you're ready to submit your creature using the Post Adoption Form in the adoption section:
Simply fill out the required 'Name', 'Sex', 'Age', 'Game' and 'Species' details accordingly, and then use the 'Browse' buttons, next to the 'Jpg Picture' and 'Zip File' fields, to locate the .jpg image you made earlier and your creature's zip file. I tend to save both the image and the zip file to my Desktop for simplicity – so that I can find them again easily. You can also write a short description of your creature in the 'Description' box if you want.
Finally, click the 'Post' button, and you’re away! You just have to wait for your adoption to be approved by a manager or by an administrator, before it’ll appear in the adoption section.
I hope this helps. |

When I use prt sc to take a screen shot it brings me to the Meso, when I got into paint the option to paste is grey and it won't let me paste.

Have you tried pressing num lock? Does it change what the print scr/home key does?
If not, it might be worth using a program like GIMP that has a built-in screenshot function (no keys involved) These can be a little hard to get the hang of though. |

You can also use TCR's C3 Creature Picture Extractor to extract all the photos of your norn - if you choose the 'jpg' option there, the photos will be perfect for Creatures Caves.

ratkinzluver33, are you on Mac or PC? If you're on Windows, what version of Windows do you have? Are you playing with Creatures Exodus or an older disk? Sometimes these can factor into where you need to put your .creature files.

Melody, are you using a laptop to take the screen shot? If so, you may have to press the function (Fn) button while you press the Prnt Scrn button for it to work.
If this is the case, Prnt Scrn will likely be in a different color than the Home text, and you can probably find the Fn button in the lower left corner of the keyboard. Hope this helps.

No problem! I figured that was the problem when you said there were two texts on one button. Happy screen shot-ing!

I have one last question, if I cut out the image I want from the screenshot, how do I get rid of the rest of screenshot but save the cut out image?

That is basic picture editing. I use Gimp and do it about so:
1. Add Alpha Channel to the layer with the screenshot
2. Make a rectangle-select around the area you want
3. Invert Select
4. Let the selected area float
5. delete floating selection
6. autocrop image
7. saving

In the main window with the pic itself you should have a selection-menu.

See if the program comes with a "Crop to Selection" option. I have no idea about Gimp but most usually do.. |

So you have Docking Station.... try putting the creature in the My agents in Program Files, if that doesn't work try My Creatures in Program files, if that doesn't work try putting the creature in the My Documents My Creatures folder.

Here is a guide from myself:
1. Open a explorer window.
2. Go to your hard drive with Windows on it.
3. Click on Program Files, and then on Docking Station (the folder).
4. Download the creature zip and move the .creature file in it to the My Creatures folder (in the Docking Station folder).
I hope this is working for you!
