ART CONTEST
Imagine your favorite Creature has set off on an expedition to explore new environments. What setting might he or she explore, and what equipment might he or she bring along? Draw your favorite Creature on just such an expedition! Make sure to include a background depicting the environment, along with any gear for exploration. The contest rules are as follows:
- All Creatures Caves rules must be followed, especially subject matter.
- Each entrant must be a registered Creatures Caves member.
- Each entrant may enter this contest once.
- Each entry may be drawn with any medium.
- Each entry must be in .jpg, .gif, or .png format.
- Each entry must be no larger than 800 x 600 pixels.
All entries will be publicly posted to be voted upon. The entry with the most votes will be declared the winner, and the winning member will receive a unique C3/DS agent created by Ghosthande. Good luck!
HANDMADE CONTEST
Have you ever created a piece of art crafted entirely from food, such as uncooked macaroni? Create your very own culinary masterpiece with a Creatures theme! No need to make it look appetizing: Let your imagination go wild! Make sure that only food items are used, and that the creation is related to Creatures. The contest rules are as follows:
- All Creatures Caves rules must be followed, especially subject matter.
- Each entrant must be a registered Creatures Caves member.
- Each entrant may enter this contest once.
- Each entry may be created with any food.
- Be aware of food safety: Finished creations may not be edible!
- Younger members are encouraged to ask an adult for assistance.
Good luck!
POETRY CONTEST
Declare your love of Creatures in an inspired haiku! Remember that a haiku poem consists of three lines with 5 sounds, 7 sounds, and 5 sounds, respectively. There are endless possibilities for the topic material: Perhaps it involves a recent Creatures experience, or even a CCSF release! The contest rules are as follows:
- All Creatures Caves rules must be followed, especially subject matter.
- Each entrant must be a registered Creatures Caves member.
- Each entrant may enter this contest once.
- Each entry must be in haiku format.
All entries will be publicly posted to be voted upon. The entry with the most votes will be declared the winner, and the winning member will receive a unique C3/DS agent created by Ghosthande. Good luck!
SCREENSHOT CONTEST
Creating a beautiful ecological environment within Creatures is something that has been gaining popularity lately, particularly with the Garden Box. Snap a screenshot within your Creatures game that shows off your skills with crafting a unique environment! Flora, fauna, and Creatures themselves are welcome to be included. The contest rules are as follows:
- All Creatures Caves rules must be followed, especially subject matter.
- Each entrant must be a registered Creatures Caves member.
- Each entrant may enter this contest once.
- Each entry must come from within the C1, C2, or C3/DS games.
- Each entry must be in .jpg, .gif, or .png format.
- Each entry must be no larger than 800 x 600 pixels.

Quick question in regards to the Art Content: I assume it's okay to use a variety of artistic tools to create your piece? I'm not a particularly good drawer, but I'm considering making something in 3D. |

Yes, indeed! Perhaps the rule stating that any medium is a little vague, but this means you can use any form of artistic tools, whether that encompasses pencils and markers or art and 3D programs. Everyone has different talents when it comes to art, so hopefully we'll get a lot of entries representing different art styles and tools!

I don't suppose planners are allowed to enter a contest or two?

I would think it might be a little biased, since we've been aware of the contests for a lot longer. However, I don't see a problem if any of us coordinators submitted our entries simply as additions to the gallery! Might be a good way to provide some ideas, post more contributions, and make sure that the contests still remain as fair as possible.

I just want to enter for the sake of entering. No competition from me!

Maybe it is possible that the authors of the contest entries are anonymous until a winning entry has been chosen? That way the votes are a lot less biased. People would be voting on the entries themselves instead of the authors.

It's a good suggestion, Eprillios, although it's still a little unfair for a coordinator to win... Possibly one of the only drawbacks to coordinating is being excluded from contests/giveaways. It's worth it, though! Entries will need to be posted publicly on Creatures Caves, and I'm not sure if authors/artists would like their work uncredited. I also know some people put a watermark/signature on their works.
It is a good idea, though! Maybe we'll be able to implement it somehow, either for this round of contests or in the future. Thanks!

Just in case anyone needed another incentive to enter, here is a preview of the four unique prize agents! I won't say what each one is, nor which prize goes with which contest (although that might be a little obvious for some). Only a few more days to enter the contests!

Are we allowed to vote in a contest we entered? |
Jessica
|
11/10/2013 | |
Yes, indeed! My comment on the screenshot contest poll should answer things pretty clearly (hopefully):
Contestants are allowed to vote for themselves if they like: We didn't have a rule against it. The results will be posted publicly when the polling ends in a few days, so anyone not wishing to vote for themselves will still have access to the results.
Again, note that voting for yourself is not cheating! It would be if we had stated this in the rules, but contestants are welcome to vote for themselves, vote for another entry, or simply skip voting altogether.
