Just wanted to say you're doing an amazing job! Without its' online features Creatures Docking Station feels very, very lonely. This'll bring back a lot of interest for a lot of folks. ![[ngrin] [ngrin]](/images/smilies/emot_grin.gif) |

I think we can all agree very very lonely is a total understatement XD

I hope that i can sacrifice some Spare Time this Weekend to fully implement the Contact/Buddy System into the Client.
We need the Contact System to transfer, almost everything, to certain User.
Sadly i must say, that i will not be able to Sacrifice whole Weekends or Days for this Project atm, due to the Fact that i moved recently and i have to buy, Furniture, Paint Walls... Stuff like that
moep!

I think that a synchronized season system would be neat - if you're logged in, and so am I, our worlds could perhaps have rain at the same time, or something. xD
VoletGrendel - it will be amazing to see a whole new amount of players in the warp system. |

So how fast do you think our generations will rise? I remember previously in the warp you would receive very, very highgens. |

Yeah, but how many years did that warp run? And what if some norns were artificially manipulated to show a higher generation than they actually are?

Papriko,that's insane.You can make highgens just by doing wolfling runs.You can't manipulate a creature's generation. |

I would not call that insane at all. Its highly probable someone could do such a thing, given they have some decent knowledge on programming and such. I have no idea how to go about it but, other people are much smarter than me when it comes to these things.

I'm sure it is doable, but to that same extent, I think that someone with Wolfling run babbies will do well to provide them. ![[ngeek] [ngeek]](/images/smilies/emot_geek.gif) |

Well, people shouldn't even do that, anyways, because real highgens are better than fake highgens. |

Siinamon

|
8/5/2014 | |
Oh, I don't know if I was clear - artificial highgens won't be allowed.
Highgens from wolfling runs are just as real as non-Wolfling run highgens, so we'll allow those. If they're edited though, then no-go. |

I doubt if it's possible to tell what went on in the ancestry of random norns we find in the warp or on adoptions sites. But what does it matter. So long as there's no disproportionate amount of attention placed on high gen norns, there's no reason for people to try and edit creature files directly. |

Probably not near the beginning of the warp, that's for sure. I have an idea to implement some of my analysis tools on the server so that we could build a genetic map of all the creatures that pass through adoption. I love seeing connections between things, and this would be a fantastic graphic to have somewhere. Doing this, we could find the high gen creatures, (not to mention learn all about the creatures), and see if they're disrupting anything.
At any rate, I don't think any generation creature will necessarily have bad effects on worlds. ![[nsmile] [nsmile]](/images/smilies/emot_smile.gif) |

I guess some people just really like highgens, but real ones are a lot more interesting. |

I think creatures of all types are interesting, which is why I want to get Albian Warp online! (Then map them!) ![[ngeek] [ngeek]](/images/smilies/emot_geek.gif) |

Once you manage to decode a .creatures file in a way as TRC did, then artificially changing the generation would be a matter of decompiling, tweaking 1-2 values and then recompiling it again.
Perhaps all could be done by a program and all you need to do is just providing the creature and the generation number.
Also, I found a technique which lets you make a creature with high generation and any genome as long as you already have a creature of that generation. In my Supersplicer download for example is a generation 5000 chichi (which was created by legit splicing btw). Using her you could let creatures with any genome start out at generation 5000

I think papriko is talking about overusing the splicer constantly to make an insanely high gen. |

SpaceShipRat

That doesen't work. You just end up with sliders and stillborns. |

Unless you're using the supersplicer with mutation rates at zero. |

Actually I talked about manipulating the value itself directly. You can decompile exported creatures in a similar manner to agents. After that, you can mess around with the most things, such as the genome or, well, the generation. When you are done, you can just recompile them.
But yeah, splicers at rates set to 0 do not fully exclude mutations as I found out, but makes them ultra unlikely.

Heck, SERU is basically a quick splicer to 5th gen and often results in stillborns and the like. Heck, that's about a 1/4 chance at it's least to get one.

I'm pretty excited about this. Since Creatures Online dashed my hopes and dreams of a new Creatures series this could definitely breathe new life into the games! Can't wait to see what's in store and I'd love to help test it out

Hey, just wondering if you guys have a progress update. Life happens, but I'm really excited to hear any news even bug reports or tiny changes. I'll be working on getting IRC (client) again so I can hang out and talk about this (and other stuff)

Yeah, life indeed. XD
I've been talking a LOT lately with some people about CAOS and some other neat projects in relation to Albian Warp, and am re-thinking how the warp will be updated.
There will be a blog post soon-ish to better explain the details, but for now I want to say that this is still being developed, if just a bit derailed.
I am trying to force dedicated time to Albian Warp to guarantee that progress is made on it. After some lengthy discussions though, I am thinking that I might make this a 'side project' at my work so that it is easier to justify working on it at length.
I just hope that doesn't rub people the wrong way.
Oi, it feels awful to dangle the Green Light at everyone and then fail to deliver on time. xD |
