Awhile back, I started on a set of egg sprites(sort of metallic Christmas-ornament-themed).
I want to get those finished, not too hard. But I need to know how to compile them into a set once they're done. I've never worked with SpriteBuilder before, so I have no idea how to use it.
Thanks in advance! |

First, make sure all of the egg sprites are in 24 bit BMP format. Create 1 frame for each egg frame. you might want to look at the official egg sprite files to make it easier. now, export all the BMPs into the file. Once you have every egg sprite in the file, save it in a
different folder as eggs.c16. You can either put that file up for download, or make a installer for them.

What program are you using to make your graphics, Starbucks?
I agree that it's easier if you look at the official sprite file and use it as a reference for yours, it'll tell you how many sprites to make for each egg and so on (assuming you're going to animate them, otherwise you can just use the same frame multiple times).
SpriteBuilder is actually very easy to use. You can import BMPs like ToxicNorn said, or even simply paste the frames into the window and drag them into the order you want them to be in. I usually do the latter, since I use Photoshop all my sprites are located in the same file, so it's faster than saving them all as BMP's.

I'm using HausMouse's egg tutorial thing as a guide. As for the program, I use Photoshop Elements 5.0. I want the full-fledged Photoshop, but geez, expensive or what? I also have Paintshop Pro Photo X2. Both are excellent.
I use HausMouse's multiple eggsprites thing. Using one set is kind of boring, so I use everything I have at once. Basically, you can have as many sprites as you want, not just one set of eggs. <3
Woah..I just noticed that HauseMouse's page is gone, because the host was shut down. How depressing. D8 Somebody ought to put the agents up here at CC. I have the multiple eggsprites file backed up.
Anyway, thanks guys, I'll be on it. I have to finish the rest of the sprites.
Ghosthande, you said you have all the sprites in one file...how do you do that? I've just been saving each individual frame as a BMP file. It's been a long, monotonous process. :p |

Well, because I create sprites using Photoshop, I just keep them all on separate layers within the same file. Then when I want to import it into SpriteBuilder, I just copy that layer, paste it into Paint, copy it again and paste it into SpriteBuilder.
There is supposed to be a way to paste them directly into SB and skip Paint but if I remember correctly that has to do with compression settings, and for some reason it never worked for me. Plus you can set black to be invisible in Paint, which makes it easy to check the transparency before you bring it into SpriteBuilder.

I've been using Paintshop Pro, just copying the eggs one at a time...ugh. XD I'll try your method, it sounds a LOT easier. Separate layers, why didn't I think of that? I use layers all the time for my artwork. Derp. Thanks.
Yeah, I wish I could just load them into SB. Even as 24-bit BMP files, the builder doesn't recognize them. Hence, lots of copy-paste. |

Rename the sprites to eggs.c16 (or eggs.spr for c1) if they arn't already, and put them in your C3/DS/CA/CP/Cv/C2/C1 folder.
