Hey, everyone. I'm swim and I've been playing creatures games since I was a young child to adulthood.
I actually used to visit creatures caves when I was younger as a guest but never made an official account until recently.
I mostly play C3/DS and I have been in love with this game for as long as I can remember and I will continue to cherish it as one of my favorite nostalgic childhood games.
It's great to see that the following for the creatures series is still going and I look forward to being a part of the creatures caves community. |

oh, wow, i missed this thread.
use to visit this place a lot in the past too though never made an account either, but was almost always on DS under a different name.
well, i grew up playing creatures and have been playing Creatures since the 90's but took a break from it for about the past decade.
decided to come back to it though and if i can get everything working right was thinking about trying to make a few agents/cobs though i don't know much about coding as of yet and it seems like the current distro has a lot of bugs to iron out.
i've trained as a fine artist much of my life including drawing and painting, and as well as doing candle making and some textiles. maybe i might be able to contribute to making some image files at some point if anyone wants.
if we can get things working properly again i've been trying to recruit new players and think the time is right for the games themselves to see a revival, though there is a lot to fix and a lot to recover from the past.
i'm overjoyed to see the community is still alive and filled with such amazing individuals. a little jealous of those who got to follow their dream of being real live geneticists though. wanted to be a bio-engineer since i was 7 but that ever worked out beyond a few childhood bionics experiments on tomatoes. |

Hello you two and welcome! Always good to see people still registering!
I have one question though: how do you make a bionic tomato?

idk, i was some kid playing with tomatoes, magnets, and electronic components doing whatever experiments i came up with at the time in hopes of making cyborg plants. might be an interesting premise for some agents though given the shee where kind of into that sort of thing.
...annnd then there was the time i tried to graft plant parts onto my own body. |

Another new member, here. I'm FieryBirdyThing, I've known about Creatures since the late '90s. Played Creatures 3 and bits of Creatures 1 back in the day, but never thought to look for fansites or anything.
I then kinda drifted away from Creatures for a long time, although the game was still etched in my memory. Last year, I took the plunge and reinstalled C3, which I've been enjoying ever since. I stumbled across this site in my 'Net travels while looking for more in-depth information on the games, and have now just made this account.
Outside of Creatures, I play a lot of other video games, and I'm also a cartoonist, t-shirt designer, and webmaster of two sites.
Wow, this is starting to sound like some kind of job CV, isn't it? In any case, I hope to stick around for a while.

Hey everyone, I'm Katalyis. I've known Creatures for awhile now, I used to play 2 and a bit of 3 way back when I was younger. I recently had a dose of nostalgia and decided to dust off the GOG version of C3/DS that I have and boot it up. Back when I was younger I really never thought to look for fansites and such but I'm surprised to see now there's still an active community around for those games all these years later.
Outside of Creatures, I'm a 2D/3D artist nearly done pursuing an Associates in Animation. Working with things like Maya and learning all about the ways of animation/environmental design for modern games and then looking back at older games like the Creatures' series really shows how far we've come over the years. |

Hi all!
I am new to the forum and new to the Creatures community. I am also fairly new to computers but I am learning. Creatures look so friendly and so heart warming that I really want to give it a try!

Hello fellow norn lovers! I'd like to re-introduce myself since I created a profile many many years ago but was never very active.
I'm here today because Earth has been closed for the past few weeks, and life as we know it is kind of on [Pause], so I'm slowly re-experiencing all my old favorite games.
I've played all the Creatures games through the years (with the exception of Creatures Village), and I've lost count how many times I've reinstalled the games. C1 is still by far my favorite version.
I wish I knew how to make my own COBs/agents. I partially learned using BobCob's tutorials many many many years ago but never quite got it.
When I'm not playing Creatures, I'm an FF fan who forgot to re-sub to FFXIV and am anxiously awaiting my copy of FFVII (remake) while stuck in quarantine.
Sad seeing all my old fansites slowly disappear over the years, but I'm glad this one is still here and alive!

Hi,
I'm a 21 year old Computer Science student. I came across the Creatures series when I was a real little kid because my biological father was in the habit of pirating every single game in a given console's catalogue and setting them up with emulators on the family computer to keep the kids happy, and I encountered one of the GBA spin-offs. I was enamored and found out about Docking Station, and played with that on and off through my whole childhood.
I'm pretty thrilled with a lot of the dope genomes people have developed and all the bugfixing still being done. Sad to see all the things that are lost, but such is life. I'm just happy such a niche game still has active mod development of any kind.
Oh, and if anyone happens to be familiar enough with Linux to know where to find libgtk1.2, which hasn't been available on debian for about 5 years, to try and get a native linux C3/DS install going, I'd appreciate that kindly.
darken your room, shut the door, empty your mind. you are still in great company. |

Welcome, samsa. That's quite the introduction to the Creatures series.
And you're right about how great it is that mods and patches are still being made. Hope you enjoy yourself here.

Hey samsa! That doesn't sound too far off from my story! When I was young, we used to pirate a ton of games and play on emulators as well, but that was mostly due to a lack of money.
I played a lot of C3/DS back then as well.
If you are looking for help with libgtk, someone's working on a guide for debian-based linux in our IRC channel. You should try it there.

Btw, I'm the someone Papriko mentioned. I PMed samsa about it already.
(And it's linux in general, but I'll try to take a look at debian, most people here seem to use it. Just haven't setup a testmachine/vm yet) |

Hi everyone,
I realized that I did not introduce my self on the forum.
So, I'm 21 and I'm just finishing my computing studies.
After quarantine, I will work in the IT department of a French high school.
I discovered Creatures 15 years ago when my parents found a CD of Creatures bought in 1996.
When we had broadband I was able to add many addons for C1 and I started to "tweak" the game.
I was fascinated by this universe and then I bought C2, C3, Village.
I also played DS shortly before the server closed with the nickname NornJules but It was a bit difficult to chat in English when I was kid! (
Due to lack of time I rarely play Creatures but today I can!
Edit:
Oh and that's my creatures stuff found after many moves!

Hi, all.
I'm 31 and I've been playing Creatures on and off for years, beginning with Creatures 2 Deluxe. I've recently come back due to a GOG sale, and I'm now on 3 and DS. I wanted to get back into Creatures 2, but it's so faulty on Windows 10 that I might have to abandon the nostalgia factory.
I'm having a good time with the new (to me) games and I hope to learn some minor file editing, as there are changes I'd like to make to pre-existing objects that came with the game, as well as some things I want to copy that other users have made.

Hi,
I used to be into Creatures and alife in general but got put off it years ago.
But, I have returned and am still fascinated by these things. I've already started poking at how the games work.
Currently using the GOG versions since I have no idea where my cds are packed away. |

OMG I have so much to say, especially to all you old-timers!
I do not recall what name you all knew me under. But I was dear friends with and contemporary to Knyte Trypper. I set Creatures aside for many years, mostly like all of you because of the lack of a central server so we can chat, make friends - and warp our creatures to other user worlds.
Well today I found out that is not a problem anymore thanks to the amazing folks at the Albian Warp Project/Team!! Knyte would be SO proud! And really happy.
I want to make some friends again in-game. Anyone who is using the new server, please message me with your name so we can be friends. Now I am off to shove a Norn through the warp to a random world, and see if they ever come home! Creatures is BACK!!

Hi, I'm ColorfulCamel.
I love virtual pets of all kinds, from robot pets (Furby, Aibo, Pleo) to online pets (Neopets, Flight Rising) and computer pets (Petz, MOPy fish), etc. Despite that, I only downloaded Creatures Docking Station last year, but it's been really fun and interesting so far and I do plan to make an agent at some point soon.
Glad to meet you all.

Hi, I'm Dani, I came here from Freya's youtube channel and I played Creatures when I was a kid and it was my favorite game of all time. I love the genetics and breeding and I think it's the greatest game series of the 90s! I recently found out that not only is the game playable but that there is a dedicated, awesome fanbase that have created new content and I am over the moon ecstatic about it XD I am so grateful for this community. Thank you for all you do, I'm so glad to be here! |

Hi I´m GhastlyMirror.
I´m actually new to the game but I have heard about creatures for quite sometime, it´s only just now I got around to get it from GOGi. Funny enough, it happened because i was watching Gremlins yesterday, and the norns and grendel designs kinda remind me of mogwais (before and after transformation).
I was alway into life simulation games, my go to favorite is the Sims 4, but I wanted something that was more animal related. I also enjoyed playing Petz at one point that had some interesing breeding system.
Nice to meet all of you. |

Welcome to the site, GhastlyMirror. It is amusing how the Norns and Grendels could be compared to Mogwais and Gremlins, isn't it?
