Because I've just read an article on Wikipedia, I'm wondering what others use, UK or US English.

I've always used US English because I thought that it was the 'international norm'. Now I doubt which one I should use. :\

There are some really some significant differences, they are listed here on Wikipedia.

Which variety do you use of English? :)

Woah, I never knew most of these differences.

I haven't focused on which I use...

I think I use a mixture of both. I would assume that this is quite common in Britain because there are a lot of American based TV shows and movies which younger children may watch and thus they are influenced by British and American English.

I guess I'm more British English than American because I live in he UK, but I can't be sure :\

Very few of my fellow brits use any american-english. Perhaps that's more to do with the company I keep than anything else, most people I talk to on a day to day basis don't follow many american shows. I defiantly have an aversion to anyone with a British accent using american grammar/phrases/slang. It just seems forced to me.

I use the American variety. I have a decent understanding of British slang and sometimes find myself using certain parts of it if I'm not careful, but I have an aversion to fanfics in which American characters use British slang. Seeing characters like Superman use words like "loo" and "bloody" just... isn't right. D:

95% percent of the time I use American English since I was born and raised in America. :p Though, sometimes I use some British slang for the heck of it. (bloody, brilliant)

I use a few words, but mostly American English. Like instead of gray I spell it grey. I've also used "travelled" instead of traveled.

I really am sorry if I offended you, I did not mean that is how I thought. I was only saying that I was exposed to those stereotypes since a young age, which conditioned my thinking.

One of my friends came to Australia from Russia and she told me that everyone in the English school in Russia was taught American English, but that she hadn't found it very useful here. She asked me what the difference was between a Kiwi accent and an Aussie accent and then I had to explain the Kiwi-Aussie rivalry.

Wow, Harlequinade, that's just a tad offensive don't you think?

I love that Creatures is such a strong bridge between cultures. It's a British game with a huge following in other countries, especially America, and so the community is inherently a blending of all these different types of people with the common ground of loving these games. I think that's beautiful.

And while we're on the subject, I'd also like to say on behalf of my nation to all our friends around the world that not all Americans want the war we're in. In fact, almost half of us don't. As well, we're not all fat and arrogant trigger-happy uneducated people. The Bush administration was an insanely absurd time in our country's history for many reasons but I think that now we're working to repair our reputation in the world.

I just wanted to make sure we all know that America didn't single-handedly cause global warming and a huge part of us don't want the current war and... Ok, sorry, I realize this isn't the place or demographic for this, lol. Just wanted to say that there's great love for our friends all over the world in America and hopefully some of that is reciprocated.
