It actually does do population checking, but when plants fall through the floor, the seeds don't "see" them when they check how many plants are around them, and this happens.

Eesh! Whoever designed that plant apparently didn't do any sort of population checking. I'd be surprised if that world lasted very long with its script engine burdened by all those thousands of plants and seeds.

This is what happens when plants that glitch through the floor when they sprout are capable of reproduction. A quick edit to the room boundaries in there and a long wait, and the retexturing of the ground was gone.
