That's a fungi, which contrary to the deathcap is actually rather nutritious for creatures.
If anyone cares, the reason this happens is because fungi use CA rather than room type to know where to grow. In this case, the hall was good enough for the spore and there you have it.

Is that a Deathcap? It's been a while since I played C3.
It's what happens when the original creators of a game aren't really involved in the sequels, and the rest of the team are comprised of "game developers" who are more interested in putting "progression" and "danger" elements into what's supposed to be an artificial life experience.
On the other hand, life has dangers, and a AL simulation should include dangerous elements. Insta-kill plants are a little over the top, though.
