I'm sure that many people here in the community have heard of Spore. Likewise, I am sure that many people here were rather disappointed at the lack of any actual A-life elements in the game.
However, when I was searching around one day (actually yesterday) I happened upon the prototypes for the game. The prototypes for the game were publicly released and they show more of the simulation side which spore could've embraced through prototypes such as Particle Man, BIOME, Gaslight, Cell Culture and Net City.
Most of these are very unique (as they are prototypes for different aspects of the game) and some can be hard to explain, but I find I find it quite saddening how some of these aspects never made it into the final game. I think BIOME is the most interesting as it uses Cellular Automata |

It's a shame that the final game was watered down so much. |

These are ABSOLUTELY my jam. Definitely playing with these later :O
It makes me immensely sad that Spore didn't live up to the hype. I still like the game, but it would probably be my straight-up favorite game if some of the more complex ideas had made it into the final product.
My hope is that with newer technologies, developers will end up creating something amazing with these sorts of simulations. A-Life has been advancing at a frankly dizzying rate and I love it.

I found Spore a huge let down. I thought it was finally going to be the next Creatures. It wasn't even alife. Blah!
Conclude with killer catchphrase.
