Does anyone know how to make a ".jpg" format norn picture for a DS norn? Is there an agent that takes ".jpg" pictures? Or can they be converted from ".s16" files to ".jpg" files? |

Unless you want your whole game completely screwed up, don't try. There is a program called 'Spritebuilder' that you can complie agent and norn graphics with. And besides, why .jpg? The quality is horrible. If anything, use .png! It's much better.

...I don't know how to convert to ".png" either. And you need a ".jpg" picture to post creatures here...
But can you tell me how to convert to ".png" then? Please? |

Ohhh, I get you now! In game, open the profile for the norn you want to take a picture of. Take a picture. Press "prt sc" on your keyboard, then go to Paint. Press "ctrl"+"v". Crop a necassary, then save it as a .png image. Export your creature, zip it, and upload.

...Where's the "prt sc" button on the keyboard? (I don't see it on my Mac's, but usually the keys in the same place have the same function.)
...Two more questions.
1) I don't have the regular Paint program. Will Appleworks Paint work?
2) How do I zip things? |

Appleworks paint will probably be the same. About the 'prt sc' button, do you have a button that says 'print screen' on it? That's the one, if Macs have it.
To zip things, you need a programme called Winzip. Do you have it? |

I don't have a print screen button...at least I don't think I do...I don't have Winzip. (I don't think even my old windows computer had it.) Do they have it for Mac? |

The way to get a screenshot in macs is to use a key combination documented here: Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts
or if you go into your utilities folder (Applications>Utilities - it took me ages to find it!!!) there's a program called "Grab" that gives you a couple of different options to the key combination. Both of these options result in a .tiff file, which can be converted to .jpg using whatever graphics application you use. (I like Seashore.)
If this all sounds too hard, if you submit your norn to The Creature Repository, they will look through the pictures, pick the best one (no thumbs in the shot etc. ) host your norn for you, and convert the best shot to .jpg! How good's that?
Also, the usual unzipping program for Macs is called Stuffit Expander. To zip a file, control-click on it and scroll down the mini-menu to "Create Archive of filename.doc" and then let go. It will then create a file called filename.doc.zip. You need to rename the .zip to get rid of the .doc, because some computers find two extensions confusing, but it's still a handy tool.

I actually wrote an interface to the s16 to jpg TCR uses, though I never released it because it was uber-buggy and unusable.
However, for you, I have made some improvements, and you may now give it a try at at this location by choosing a C3/DS .creatrure file, picking which picture you want, and clicking submit. Voila! Instant usable creature picture. Handy, yes?
Though of course if you want to submit to TCR itself to obtain the same effect I certainly am not going to stop you.

Yay! I got pictures of Uta and Kaoru into .jpg! (I used ElasticMuffin's insta-pic.) Thank you everybody! Now I just have to find the Stuff-It thingie Malkin was talking - posting - about! |

lol, I bet you weren't expecting *this* much of a response. Stuffit usually comes with your Mac... it should be already on there. Have you tried double-clicking on a zip file to see what happens? I think that in Tiger, you don't need Stuffit. (I run Panther, so I'm not sure.)

No, I wasn't expecting mush of a response at all when I started the topic. LOL.
But...I found the Stuff-It thing! I got the file zipped and I tried unzipping it (which also worked)! Now I have to see if I can submit my norn...
EDIT: Rats...I don't think they except youths...(Though I was still able to submit my baby norns! I wonder if they'll be excepted...I sent in four of them...)
EDIT: Yay! The baby norns were accepted! Their names are Hoshi, Kamin, Natsu, and Uta. |

Psst, at TCR we don't require you to have screenshots of C3/DS norns prior to submission. Just sayin'. >.>

True. But I think TCR only accepts norns that it deems really special (judging by the submission form). |

Naw, TCR accepts norns that you deem special. Like for me, I'm beginning an experiment into BondixTreehugger hybrids, so I put up one of my naturally-concieved F1 hybrids for future reference. (By F1 hybrid, I mean that his mother was a muco bondi and his father was a muco treehugger)
Hopefully when I get a norn that suits what I have in mind for the line, I'll put that up too.

Kaoru is now at http://tcr.diagonalfish.net/view.php?id=721.
The picture is actually of when she was a baby...oh well.
Thank you everybody! |

It's okay! I admit I'm not willing to wait very long for a norn to get into a decent pose. The description says what she looks like later in life anyway. |
