Strangeo Forum Pokémon Black&White    AquaShee      3/4/2011 Anyone else bought this game? It got released in Europe today, so I went out and got a copy for myself to keep me company on the train. Hehe, training on a train. So far the game seems all right, but very predictable. It still sticks to the same basic formula. Although they did intercept a few of the most common 'flaws'. There is no longer a 'best' starter for the starting gym, for example. I was really sad when I noticed the pokémon doesn't follow you around anymore like it does in HeartGold and SoulSilver. I was really hoping they'd keep that feature. The main story is completely insane, though. But at least they're not trying to redesign the universe anymore. I hope. Anyways, anyone else who played it so far? I'm a huge Pokemon fan you see What's your current team, AS?   Gumbo   3/4/2011 one, what are the legendarys. two, pokemon dont follow you around? pfft, worthless. three, fire and fighting type STARTER??? wtf????? why???? in the spring you gotta let the flowers fully blossom   Officer-1BDI     3/4/2011 Here's a list of Gen V's legendary pokemon; so far I think the only way you can get Victini is to download a Liberty Card onto Black or White via Nintendo WiFi before April 6 or something. So, within the last year I've gone from thinking Pokemon was a blatantly commercial complete waste of time to owning Platinum, sneaking around local GameStops for exclusive Pokemon, joining a Pokemon RPG, drawing fanart, and *shudder* browsing Smogen so I can craft my perfect Pokemon team. I spent the last week breeding Dodrios and Shroomish for ideal IVs and natures, and I'll probably carry that work over to Black once I get it because bracelets don't work in platinum for breeding purposes. :[ ... What the heck happened to me?! *cough* ANYWAY, I preordered Black off of Amazon, and I went with free (read: slow) shipping, so I probably won't get my game until late next week. I know I'm starting with Oshawatt, but the poor thing's going to be used for HM storage mostly because I'm honestly not happy with any of the starters this gen. Too many cooler pokemon down the road for me to make up my team with. You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there. -- Jim Adkins   AquaShee   3/5/2011 My team is pretty worthless at the moment, really. Early game is always a bit tough for balanced teams because type-specific moves are not that common at low levels. The easiest way is to just barge through the first two/three gyms with two main pokémon. After that you have enough wild pokémon stuffed in your PC to work on an actual team. I usually stuff the weakest/least awesome pokémon in a box as soon as I catch a better one, so my starter may not last long. Poor Servine. I do like the new sprites though. The zooming and panning doesn't make the pixel art look very clean, but their animations are very lively. They even sleep with their eyes closed now! Servine gets better once he evolves to Serperior and gets Coil and Leaf Blade. My current team is Dewott, Scraggy, Krokorok, and Zorua. Yeah, I really like the fact that the Pokemon move around during a battle, Looks way better than just the static sprites from the previous games.   Officer-1BDI     3/6/2011 This was my original outline for my "story team" (at least their first evolutions because I'm too lazy to look up their final evolutions): [Start with Oshawott but then box it in favor of:] Woobat, Tympole Deerling, Joltik, Litwick, Deino However, I plan on getting Victini as soon as feasibly possible and just started considering using that on my team, so now I'm reshuffling everything to accommodate the legendary. I'll probably drop Litwick and Woobat because of the duplicate types and choose a different Flying type. You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. Swanna and Tynamo are my newest recruits, replacing Simipour and Swoobat. Tynamo is lagging behind the others though. I'm hoping it gets better as it evolves, but it's not looking good. Considering taking Joltik along instead. Do I even need an electric type that badly? Some Ice to counter Dragon types would be nice.
