So, in his quest to make me far nerdier than I have ever gone before, my friend has decided I should learn Magic the Gathering.
He and his friend at the comic book store have helped me lots, but I was wondering if anyone here at the CC could give me any tips. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if anyone else here has played the game at some point, frankly.
All in all, it's a fun game, but so far I feel rather stupid while playing it. "Durr turn card wait why can't I do this durr". And I can't practice often because 1) I don't have my own deck and 2) I don't have the time go down to the comic book store that often.
So, how can I improve at this game, at least to "playable without constant direction" levels?

Read! Lots of tournaments have logs online and there are oodles of MTG discussion boards.
It's been a while since I last played, but I learned a lot from simply reading about how other people played or what they felt about certain cards.
