Im going more with panic.
By the way, as of now there are 15,648 days until the end of oil, 61074 until the end of natural gas, and 152,245 until the end of oil.
as of 8:04 PM in boston, 33,643,784,064 MWh of solar energy have struck the earth. 356,391,238 MWh of total energy has been spent.
Humans currently consume or feed to slaughter animals 40% of ALL PLANT MATTER grown on earth.
ALL PLANT MATTER
11,723 species are known to have gone extinct this year alone. It's january 31st. 11,23 in ONE MONTH.
This is more than global warming, this is a mass extinction in the making.
So yeah, panic.
And cheer me up, please

Where are you even getting those numbers from, Gumbo?
A lot of people throw numbers around. A lot of scientists come to different conclusions, either due to shoddy research or questionable estimation strategies or lack of information in general. What one scientist says in fact may be disproven a year later... or even just a week later. And, too frequently, research seems to "prove" what the funding party wants to prove, or is repeated by people who want to use it to prove their point, who then conveniently forget how shoddy the logic behind that research was or the fact that it was completely disproven a month later.
If you got this from a scientific source I'd be interested to know which one, but if it came from some news article or some random dude online going "OMG Global Warming"... I'd take it with a grain of salt.

Mmm, plant matter.
I'd like to see the sources for this too. The extinction and solar energy numbers in particular seem off. |

I could do with a nice relocation to Pluto, heck maybe even deep space, that's be a nice change to go from having steaming brain fluid coming out of my ears to having brain solid and frozen blood. XD

My thoughts on it are kinda exemplified by what was said by Bill Maher last night, after the physicist he had on commented that humans tended to just adapt to and get used to the cold
It was something like "humans will get used to anything, so hey we're going to lose all our fish in 50 years, whatever, we'll just eat something else"
It's not my own actual opinion, it's just a sad observation that will probably be true of the human race

The problems with ocean ecology isn't just because of global warming, though. A lot of that is due to overfishing and similar problems. It's pretty amazing to see how the quality of tuna, for instance, has plummeted over the years. And predicted dates for tuna extinction are far sooner than 2060. I hear the attempt to list the bluefin as endangered actually failed--not because it doesn't need the protection, but because it's more profitable to just keep fishing anyways.

I sure hope everything will be okay. People need to find better ways to handle it all.
