Whilst me, my mum and little sister were walking through the front garden gate, we witnessed our cat, Jenny, get hit by a passing car while crossing the road.
It was absolutely heartbreaking to watch her writhe around on the road in pain, and even more so when my mum scooped her frail body up into her arms.
After struggling to find her mobile phone, my mum tried to phone the vet, but it was too late, Jenny had already passed away on the sofa where she had been laid on a blanket. There was nothing we could have done.
We buried Jenny in our front garden on Sunday, underneath the stone tiles.
I've been absolutely heartbroken about Jenny's death. We've had her since the 24th August 2008, and she's always been a part of our life. She had four kittens (who we still have) on 5th November 2009, but I still can't get over her death.
Here's a picture of Jenny I took a month before she gave birth:

I'm so sorry to hear your sad news, C-Rex. My heart goes out to you and everyone else who loved Jenny. Words cannot adequately express just how horrible it is when you lose a beloved pet. They're like one of the family, and I remember how devastated I was when my cat, Rodney, died a few months ago. He was also unexpectedly hit by a car, so I know how you feel.
When Rodney died, I found that Pet Loss.com was a great support and comfort to me. Perhaps it'll help you. And we're here for you too, of course. |

Thanks for your kind support Laura, you're a lovely person. I bet Jenny and Rodney are up in heaven now, frolicking.
By the way, did you ever manage to find poor Rodney's body? |

No we didn't, sadly. At least we have some photos and our happy memories, as I'm sure you have with Jenny. I'm so sorry you had to witness what you did though. |

Yeah, I know. The person driving didn't even stop to see if she was alright. |

Yeah, unfortunately that's often the case. There are a lot of thoughtless drivers out there. |

Aww C-Rex, I'm really sorry. My first kitty was hit by a car outside our home. Poor Jenny. She looks like such a sweetheart. Rodney and Christy will keep her in good company.
I'm glad you have her babies though. Although no cat will be able to replace Jenny, at least you still have her babies to take care of and know they are in good hands even with their momma gone.

Thanks Ghosthande. Sorry for the bad language Laura, I should have thought before I posted. |

That's sad to hear, the loss of a pets is only topped by the loss of a family member in my opinion, but it is almost as heartbreaking, my thoughts go out to you C-Rex.

I know how you feel. One day, not to long after getting home from a trip to the lake, I walked down stairs to see our friend's dog run past, and hear my dad shouting at her. Turns out she had grabbed my kitten, and I too had to watch as Lunen writhed in pain on the ground and died in minutes.
It's a good that you still have her kittens. I know that having my kitten's cousin makes me feel better.
Don't forget. Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember her, you are not alone. |

I don't think people would be very respected in the community if they weren't caring, would they?

Ouch... I'm feeling sorry. I'm whishing you and your family good luck and I hope your cat will be fine in the hereafter.
I can imagine that it is a hard time for her kitties too, hopefully they are going to have a happy and fine life in the future.

C-Rex I'm so sorry! My cat died to. So did my dog.. Both by careless drivers. sadly there seems to be more careless drivers than careful drives. At least Jenny is in a happy place now and so is Pleasure and Lucky .

I'm so sorry you lost your cat, C-Rex, especially in such a manner. I had a close scare with my dog a couple of weeks ago; he slipped out of his harness when I took him to the pet store and he kept running in and out of the busy street nearby because he was scared out of his wits. I... was really lucky, though; for whatever reason he finally turned around and bolted back to my parked car.
It makes me furious that the person who hit Jenny didn't even stop to check on her. That's horrible.
You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

I totally know how you feel, but at least she only got hit by a car. Two of my cats got eaten by coyotes. I think. Yeah, it sucks.

*hugs* I'm so sorry...that must have been painful to see. I hope that she's in a better place now.
I lost two cats to cars, so I can relate...one of them got hit by the neighbors next door because he was sleeping under the car.
I can't believe people who don't even care if they run over a poor animal. I'd feel terrible for ages if I did.

I am so sorry, nobody deserves to lose a pet in such a terrible way. My mom had an experience she tells me sometimes, where her and her sister were walking to the bakery as kids and their cat followed them like she usually did. Normally they were aware of it, and kept her from doing it, but the poor kitty wasn't as obvious about it as she usually was.
Another thing, I recently lost a cat, and while it was simply to old age and not anything as horrible as getting hit, it was terrible for me. I had known her for the majority of my life, and I really miss her. I hope you get over your loss soon, and it is great you still have her kittens. A piece of her to hold close when you just wish she was by your side.
I'm tired. ;___; |
