I went up to the hardware store counter. "Im gonna need 3 boxes of screws,5 of the biggest peices of plexiglass you have, and 8 half inch wide by 2 yard long peices of metal. Got those in stock?" I said to the clerk. After he nodded yes,he called over a group of workers to help lift my plexiglass, and handed me the rest. After I got home and nearly broke all the stuff,my work was ready to begin. I nearly walked into the sign that said "Residence of Hansen Family" by my mailbox. My freind Jordan was helping me lift stuff. After we got it all into the basement, the hard part began. "Johnathan, are you sure this is gonna work?" Jordan said to me. "How many times have you asked that, and what answer did I give you every time?" I said, irritated. I had no welding welding mask or gloves,so this would be painful. I spent hours welding the metal and screwing the glass to it to keep it together, and getting scars on my hands from the torch's sparks. I finally attached the glass jar filled with animal parts my farmer cousin sold to me. I went on the computer and booted up the software. "Please enter the the password to veiw this document" The computer said through its speakers. I typed the password. N-O-R-N. Suddenly, there was a bright flash. I was blinded unexpectedly by it. When I got my sight back, All the animal parts in the jar were gone, and a furry little Bengal norn was saying "Eem Flib Bibble." I turned to my freind and lab partner. "It was difficult, but it was a labor of love. A love for science."
Im thinking of making this into a full series about a 14 year old kid that brings norns to life. Do you think, based on the first chapter it'd work out to be good?

I figured I'd try to make it more realistic and have it require parts from animals to fuel the machine and to replace parts of the norn that are damaged on the way. You see, this kind of thought crafts realistic worlds, worlds that seem better then reality, but no so good it cant be possible. I'll be thinking up the next chapter.

Ok, heres the next chapter. (BTW, the first chapter was actually a seperate, short story. The series is gonna be called "the norn project."
The norn project-Chapter One
I set up a bed for my creation, which was only a baby norn at the time. In the morning, I took him upstairs to show my parents. They didnt give the reaction I expected. "Get rid of it." They said in unison. My mother continued the sentence." I dont know what that is,but we cant take care of it!" I replied with "It wont be hard to keep it here! It eats carrots, bananas, anything we can eat he can." I said, surprised that she didnt know that, considering she was the one that showed me the game I took it from, Creatures. "What is that anyway?" She said. "It's called a norn. This is a bengal norn. I used a machine I built in my room slash lab to bring him to life." I told her matter of factly. There was a look of shock from her. "What have we told you about geneticly engineering your own life forms! The last time you did that furry, walking alligators almost burned down the house!" she yelled. "Stop yelling. You're scaring him. Anyway, I'm sure you already know how tame little Alex here is. He could be really helpful too,and think of the possibilities for science!" I said, picking him up. "I have created sentient life! I cant throw that away! This guy is just as smart as a human!" "Just get rid of it." My mother said. I walked downstairs into my room, still holding it. What she said didnt matter. It was time to teach him english.
What do you think of the first actual chapter?

The norn project- Chapter 2
While I slept, I had no idea what would happen. My little sister had snuck into my lab/room, and activated my machine. By the time she was finished, a grendel and ettin stood in my room. Somehow I slept through all this. When I woke up, I heard my alarm clock going off in the corner. Wait, in the corner? I walked to the corner, and sure enough there was a pile of my various gadgets, with an ettin standing nearby. "Em boop." the ettin said.I had no idea what that meant, but I would imagine it was gloating. A grendel marched over and slapped the ettin. Thats when I knew just who did this. I walked upstairs, and without saying a word I showed my sister the chaos happening. She ran away before I could possibly do anything to her. I then realized I needed to get ready for school. It was too late to put them anywhere, so I just had to stuff them into my backpack, grendel in one part, the others in the other part. I dropped a few carrots in there and left them a breathing hole. "Please be quiet during school!" I said out loud. This day was gonna be weird.
