Already tried. Already failed.
I wish that I could post up some real OT discussion (there's a really cool new game out and thought it would be fun to open a topic for it), but everyone immediately goes for the games. >_>

If you have an idea for a good OT discussion, why not just post it? Rasc might decide that they'd have to be a steady flow of off-topic threads before a separate off-topic forum would be worthwhile. |

Hurr, I can try. XD But I bet that it'll be ignored and hidden beneath a massive pile of forum games.

There are occasional bursts of OT discussion they just get buried in games before I can read the damn things.
Bumping this topic till rascii posts in it.

Nope, it isn't. Shame on you Starscream! And I can't even combine them because you're above me. This would have been a perfect time to test out my mod abilities!

Wouldn't it be more effective to just PM Rascii anyway? He should see the PM as soon as he logs on, even if he doesn't come into the forums.
You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

Changed the topic name because I'm sugar/spice/everything nice
Edit: Strangeo challenge: If you can give me a good, relevant reason that double posting is bad, I will clean this topic and change my name to something stupid for a week. I lied. |

1.Double posting is annoying. Usually begins with a new post a new user to talk. With double posting the reader has to look if really a new user talks or just someone can't find the edit button. That starts to suck after a while because it slows down the readind speed.
2. It pushed up the post count of the double-poster for nothing. The stats say maybe 1000 posts, but when they get combined together sensefully, you might only get about 550. Here in this forum you also get stars for posting, so is that kind of cheating for me.
3. It is bad for the server. Okay, each post is maybe... 2 kb small, but 2 kb here, 3 kb there, 1.5 kb again here... when all people would do that, the server would be quite fast filled.
And both, the server and the user's PC, have to display more. For each post get some things displayed (e.g. avatar, link to profile, etc...), so 1 post with medium text needs less CPU than 5 posts with only a little bit text.
Are that enough reasons? I hate to talk like that, but I am against double-posting, too...

No one is confused (have you ever seen a forum with signature banners owwwwww), postcount means nothing and server load is insufficient, but you cared enough to write a wall of text so I'll clean especially for you.
Also bump. |

It is simply part of the good manners in a forum not to double- or multi-post.
And what you do it not longer funny in any way, it is simply that what the average web-user calls "Spam".

Double posting implies a great deal of arrogance, as it suggests that you believe what you have to say is infinitely more important than what anyone else does. Not necessarily a bad thing, if you don't mind people thinking that you are narcissistic, but it is certainly rude, as Papriko mentioned.
EDIT: I suppose you have started this challenge on purpose, because it effectively keeps the topic bumped without getting you into trouble.

Personally, I don't really like double posting because it makes the person think "Oh, someone just posted something new in the topic! O Joy Plz." but then they discover that it's only an "edit" on a previous post, not anything really new.
However, Starscream is only double and triple posting to keep this topic at the top (which I can actually sticky that for you Starscream, until Rascii gets back, so you don't have to do that) and keep it from being buried under the many games (Agreed) So I don't see much of a problem here.
Sticking this unless anyone has any disagreements.
Edit: Just remembered, since your a manager I can't sticky posts by you Starscream. We'll have to wait until someone higher comes in.

You asked, I offered an answer. *shrug*
I suggest we start a nice OT to discuss reasons that lovelydiva54341 should not double post and return to the matter at hand, which happens to be whether or not a games-only forum should be implemented so that Strangeo can once again be filled with true OTs.

Lovelydiva54341, I did not demand, I peacefully suggested. I figured that I would earn my way to a title. And I'm not against you really, I think that "for the love of god" we should have separate OT and games forums.

This, Epaeris, is your worst nightmare. It definitely is STRANGEo and probably proves the point that we can, in fact, have completely off topic discussion, which then give birth to even more off topic discussions, and in the end you marry lovelydiva and discuss the relative merits of a llama oligarchy. Alas, I can not understand how I got pulled into this.
