Like plants and how they reproduce, especially the weirdest ways. Gardening runs in the family (the talent runs in the family, and we're all naturally good at gardening)! My mother is a good gardener (she's had a hibiscus plant that's been in our back yard for 2-4 years, we're in arizona, a dry state, so it proves she's good)! My grand father is a good gardener too. (He's grown vegetables in our back yard, which we've eaten). I'm also a good gardener (Has four cosmos flowers that have bloomed 1 flower each, at least (some have three, some will have four flowers).). Though, the gardening honestly lies in my mom's side of the family. Though, this is one of the weirdest part of certain plants: The way potatoes, onions, and other plants reproduce. If you put a potato in the ground, as it grows, it turns into this colony like creature. It turns into a colony shape that is like how an ant colony's home is shaped. The potato grows these things we call "eyes". These eyes are like roots. Several of them grow on a single potato in a small time. Not long from then, the eyes become more bulb like, and eventually become potatoes too. Before the eye becomes a potato, it can be removed, so it can be grown much easier. You'd think the potato grows eyes like roots, but, the strange part is, the eyes become new organisms entirely, they become their own potato. Strangely enough, this is quite rare. Remove any root from it's original host plant, put it in new soil, and try to grow it. It doesn't work, the root dies off like a severed finger, hand, or arm. But with a potato, it's fingers, hands, arms, etc., when broken off, will not only grow back, but, the broken off appendege, will grow in the spot it was then placed. A similar thing happens with onions. If you cut an onion in half, and place it in a moist container, it will also grow what I call eyes. Though, onions are kind of bulbs, but the eyes, I haven't seen if they can grow into new organisms, or grow further. beep   Small Birb Pann     2/19/2010 Wow, so THAT'S what those eyes were. Second generation can begin before the end of spring! Oh, and my current goal is to find out what certain parts of the DNA do. Any stream with letters decides which color something is. You can change the color of the petals, the stem, and even the center.
