Improved Desert Terrarium   C3   Vermidia | 4/20/2020  log in to like post  12

typeLiving
authorVermidia, various
updated5/18/2021
version1.14
Compiles fixes from alot of different edits to the original C3 desert critters and plants.

This makes sure the desert is instinct friendly, while also balancing the ecosystem and making the critters a bit more unique.

All credits are in the readme.

If your interested in making the desert a creature-friendly place, you may also want this cos file allowing creatures to play with the volcano rocks.

1.1: Fixes Meerks erroring by trying to come out of holes to the far left of the terrarium
1.11: Fixes Cacbana sometimes erroring
1.12: Fixes Gnarlers trying to velo non-existant rocks
1.13: Really fixes Gnarler and meerk problems
1.14: Fixed waste
1.14 Minor Fix: Uglees should get stuck less

Huh, interesting
Yeah, I'm pretty used to playing docked, and GOG's c3 basically uses DS's engine. Since playing c3 standalone isn't recommended(for it's older version and lack of newer CAOS commands), it won't be supported here, but it's good to know!.

Thanks for the note, Gray - CATO is, as you note, a DS-only command.

Unfortunately, the catalogue file is only the beginning. Removing the catalogue causes a new string of errors to appear, similar to this:

[INSERT FULL INSTALL DIRECTORY HERE]\Creatures 3\Bootstrap\001 World\cacbana.cos
2 5 2 9 (Cacbana)
Invalid command at token 'cato'
... eq 0 attr 192 endi {@}cato 8 emit 6 0.5 setv va00 ov ...

These errors only seem to manifest when the user tries to open a world in Steam's C3 standalone program. If you don't care about playing C3 undocked, this probably won't affect you. When opening a docked world from the DS launcher, the game runs without complaint, and the adjustments to the Desert Terrarium appear to be working as intended... But if you DO care about the ability to play C3 undocked, you may wish to avoid these fixes. Steam's C3 standalone appears to be completely incompatible. :(

The catalogue should work(I can't find any errors in it), but you can just remove it.

Anyone have this issue with the steam version after installing? "Catalogue Error: CLE0005: Expecting string (in "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Creatures Docking Station\Creatures 3\Catalogue\z_desertinfo.catalogue", line 8)" or atleast any capable of telling me what I might have to do to fix it?

They should have a population limiter but it seems to break sometimes, not sure why.

The gnarlers have a tendency to massively overpopulate over long periods of time. There have been times where I've checked on wolfling runs and found whole herds of them running around!

Awesome to see this getting a release!
