| At first glance, Vibria looked like a grendelchi with odd scales that looked vaguely like a banshee grendel's. However, she was actually a dragon - a desert dragon, to be specific.
She once believed herself to be an ordinary grendelchi, but as time went on the evidence to contrary kept piling up to the point where she could no longer believe herself when she said that. She eventually came to the conclusion that she was a dragon, but she never learned what exactly that was. The one creatchi who could tell her that was long dead by the time she actually became bold enough to face her.
Regardless of species, she was relatively friendly. In her youth, she had a strong habit of hoarding various objects, particularly gems, for reasons she learned were tied to her real species. She didn't take well to being bullied or otherwise bossed around, and never liked to see it happen to others either.
Her life was a long and definitely not dull one. In her first couple days, she met her future husband Sentinel and was forcibly removed from her birthing home by an older dragonchi, Dracona, who believed she was intruding on her territory. Although she definitely raised a stink while it was going on, Vibria got over it relatively quickly and found herself a new home, which she shared with Sentinel.
The two went on a few adventures together to find such things as gadgets and gemstones. When Vibria finally learned that she was no grendelchi, she decided that it was time for things to come full circle and went back to Draconoa's territory to challenge her. Unfortunately, Dracona had died long before Vibria became old enough to face her. The journey wasn't completely in vain, however, as Vibria took a spellbook from the deceased blue one's hoard.
The tail end of her life was a peaceful one; she spent time with her husband, cared for her two unhatched eggs, and studied Dracona's spellbook whenever she had a free moment. In the end, she left the book behind for her children. She died peacefully, and she was given a gravestone by her husband Sentinel.
Such was the life of the dragon who thought she was a grendel. May she rest in peace. |

((I'll post once I'm home. Also, I got the breed request, but I'm going to wait a while before accepting it.))

Sentinel can only stare at her weirdly. Is she even a Grendelchi, he wonders? He shakes his head and shrugs. "I don't know if there are any more..." He thinks for a few minutes, and can't come up with where the gems even came from. He digs in vain around where he found the first gems, All he comes up with is a very scared sand-snake, which was quickly eaten.
"Where do gems come from anyway, do you know? The ettins had to have found them somewhere. Rocks can't appear out of thin air after all." He asks her, genuinely curious if she knew. He has realized he likes knowing everything, even if he really knows next to nothing.

Vibria remains more or less silent as she follows Sentinel to the hoard. Once she's there, however, she takes a look around, and then with one huge grin she helps Sentinel assemble the pile.
Once they're finished, she steps back and nods appreciatively. "I think this will be a good start. I'd even say it matches my old one." She then thinks for a little more, then suddenly frowns. "The question now is how we're going to lug all of this back. You think we're going to be able to do it all in one trip?"
Her frown vanishes as Sentinel hands her the gems. Another strange thought strikes her; in fact, it felt almost as instinctual as hoarding did. She looks at the gems, then lifts a hand to her chest and feels the skin there.
Suddenly, she drops all the gems and then lies on them stomach-down. She stays there for a few moments, possibly a minute, before getting back up. To her noticeable dismay, most of the gems just fall right off. However, a few of them stick.
She briefly worries about what Sentinel is going to think of such an action, but then shrugs and turns to him. "I think we need to find some more of these," she says.

It takes them about half a day to reach the ettin hoard, and once it takes Sentinel a few hours of digging random holes to find the exact spot. He eventually finds it though. It was almost sunset before they had the whole lot of it out of the sand. There isn't much in there that could be considered valuable, but being buried in the sand has left most of it shiny. Sentinel decides to keep a small box that plays when he opens it.
He listens to the music for a bit, looking over the Grendelchi-sized pile of gadgets they found. He did find a few interesting gems amongst the gadgets, and he hands them to Vibra.
"Now these are the sort of things -I- would hoard. Aren't they weird looking?"
| |
|
"What a weird instinct to have..." Sentinel mumbles to himself. He is amused by Vibra's lack of direction. Though he admit to himself, that the only reason he knew which way is North is because asked a friendly Nornchi once. Well, that and the rising and setting of the sun. He points Northward, and says: "Folllow me! I know where the hoard is anyway."
A few minutes later he adds, a tiny bit smugly: "You can tell which way is North by the rising and setting of the sun. It rises in the east, and sets in the West."

"An ettin hoarding spot?" Vibria asks, "Sounds interesting enough. Wonder if we'll meet any ettins while we're there." She sighs. "And to be honest, I don't know what use I have for a hoard either. It's a compulsion, almost like instinct." She shrugs. "Maybe I have ettin blood or something. No sense dwelling on it now, anyway. We might as well get going."
She starts to walk off, but she only takes a few steps before looking around confused. "Remind me, which way is north? It's difficult to tell when the only thing surrounding this oasis is sand."
| |
|
Sentinel considers her offer for a time. He doesn't really know what else to do with himself, and he does like Vibra's company. On the other hand, he hasn't met he blue one on even terms yet...
"Hmm... I don't see why you need a pile of gadgets, but sure I'll go with you. I'd hate to run into the bigger Dragonchi alone anyway... Plus I love digging." He gives her a stupid grins and asks her where they should go first? "I think there's and old Ettin hoarding spot North from here. Atleast that's where I found that first gadget."

|
"My name is Vibria. Don't know who gave me that name, but it fits," Vibria responds. She is silent for a moment, and then quickly says, "Now that introductions are out of the way, I have a question to ask you. Would you like to come with me on my journey to gather a new hoard? You're welcome to keep anything you'd like, and if all goes well we'll be able to keep that nasty blue grandma away and keep her from bossing us around. She isn't related to us, and therefore she has no right to. Wouldn't you agree?"
| |
|
Sentinel tilts his head even further. She was right, they didn't know each others name after all this time. He only now realizes that it's actually be a bit of time since he met Vibra. "My name is Sentinel, what's yours?"
| |
|
Vibria shrugs. She can't say she wasn't expecting that reaction.
"I find it comforting," she says, "But given what's down there, I guess I don't blame you." She then tilts her own head to the side. "However, that's not really want I wanted to speak to you about. We've been living near each other for quite a while now, and yet I don't think I even know your name."
