How to post COBs and agents in the Creatures Caves Downloads section.

When posting COBs and Agents to Creatures Caves, please provide a clear title, description and image for the COB or agent.

Please save your display picture as a JPG, JPEG, PNG, or GIF and image dimensions of 120 x 150 pixels are preferred.

For zip files, only ZIP extensions are accepted.

Please make sure that you choose the correct game from the drop-down list, as there are often conversions of older C1 and C2 COBs to agents for C3 or DS. If you are uploading such a conversion, it might be a good idea to explicitly mention this in the description field too. You'll notice that you can choose between C3, DS, or C3/DS on the form. "C3" is for agents that will only work with C3, like the Reactor. "DS" is for agents that will only work with DS, like the Garden Box. "C3/DS" is for agents that will work with either C3 or DS.

You'll notice that both the "URL" and "Zip file" fields are optional. You can simply link to the creator's website, or upload the COB or agent in a zip file, or do both.

Choosing which you want to do largely rests on the author's permission for their work. When the author does not want their COB or agent re-hosted, you can simply use the URL field to send people to the author's website. Alternatively, when the author permits their agent to be re-hosted, you can upload it as a zip file to Creatures Caves.

When Listing a COB/Agent:
You do not need explicit permission from the author to simply list an agent, COB or breed on Creatures Caves, but it is considered courteous to not directly link to the download when you use the link function instead of the upload function, as it steals bandwidth from the original creator's site.

So you would link to http://www.creaturesvillage.com/helen/cobs.php?type=food&gameCode=c2&ID=57 rather than http://www.creaturesvillage.com/helen/downloadFile.php?url=cobs/cobc2fruitvendor.zip.

When Uploading a COB/Agent:
Please make sure your COB or agent is wrapped up properly in a zip file with all needed files, and a Readme file containing at least the name of the agent and its creator.

Make sure that you are the owner of the COB or agent, or that the original creator has given explicit permission to host this COB or agent on Creatures Caves. Readme files which allow re-hosting with full attribution count as explicit permission.

If the COB or agent was not made by you, please mention the original creator clearly - the "author(s)" field is designed to help you with this. The link function can be used to direct others to the original creator's page.

If the COB or agent can no longer be downloaded anywhere else and the original creator is nowhere to be found, it is OK to upload it to Creatures Caves.

If the author contacts us and wants it removed, we will gladly oblige.

Please note that when previewing your entries, you need to re-upload the image and zip file before submitting it to be approved by a manager or administrator.
