Ever wanted to know more about the sequel to Creatures? No? Then why click this section, because that is what it is about.

The Plot
Since the Shee left Albia was never the same, no more development was made and ecology took over. It came as quite a shock as Albia was ripped apart by huge earthquakes and mass volcanoes. Its landscape ripped apart and torn up to form a new world. A new more dangerous world, with hills pits and trees. Quite a different world from the where the Shee had lived and created their genetic creatures the Norns so long ago.

Weather was created and a new set of Norn eggs left by the Shee were found. A new scarier breed of Grendels nest found and the hive of Ettins, a industrious breed, discovered. With Albia ripped apart the Shee laboratories were discovered- new machines and exciting objects. From tomato throwers to genetic splicers The Shee's Power was released to all!

Now you take up the role as the hand once more as you guide the new generation of Norns in a new unexplored world. Danger lurks round every corner so you'll need your wits to keep your Norns alive! Can you rebuild the Norn civilisation?

The World
Albia is a vast disc world. If you keep travelling to the right, the east, then eventually, you will end up back where you started. Since the vast volcanic eruption, Albia has changed considerably. Almost all of the old world was completely destroyed, and now the ancient hidden laboratories of the ancient race of Shee (now, sadly, long since gone) are revealed for the first time.

Albia is just like a real world, it has seasons, days, nights, and weather. During the long winter nights, it can get very, very cold outside. So cold, in fact, that even the sea itself can freeze (giving Grendels a short cut to visit you?). Each of the plants and animals you see has its own life cycle. Cacti need to be pollinated before they can seed each year, and insects need flowers to feed from so that they too can survive. This forms a huge, living eco-system for your Norns to live in.

The Applets
These small sub programs allow you to monitor and experiment with your Norn. Everything you'll do with your Norn you will most likely use these, from birth to death.

Owners Kit: This is the first kit you should use with a new born Norn, it allows you to enter details of the Norn such as name, tells you its age and allows details of yourself to be entered. It also displays family information and allows you to take pictures. ALERT: If you enter information o yourself and export the Norn and give it to someone they will have that information.

Health Kit
This has four pages:

Fitness. Shows general health information about the selected creature, including heartbeat, body temperature and internal organ status. If you hold the mouse pointer over any of the areas on this page it shows you what it is (handy for identifying organs).
Brain. Brain activity in the selected creature. A lot of activity on this page indicates a creature thinking hard!
Drives. Gives an indication of what is most important to your creature at any given time. A high boredom reading is an indication that your Norn needs stimulation. Give it a toy or go exploring.
Doctor. This is a cabinet of several medicines that you can put into the world and encourage your creature to take. Click on one to see what it is, and use the Add button to place it into Albia.

The Chronicles
This kit is to help you keep track of what's happened in your Albia, it has two pages:

Statistics. Shows a summary of all of the creatures you have hatched.
Aphrodisiacs. Shows a history of the births and deaths of all creatures in your Albia.

Breeder's Kit
This kit helps you keep track of your Norns sexual life and reproduction drives. It has two pages:

Reproductive. Monitors reproductive system inside a creature. For female creatures, you can also watch the progress of pregnancy. A high fertility indicates a good time to get creatures together to mate them!
Aphrodisiacs. This is a selection of aphrodisiacs that you can put in the world to increase the sex drive in your Norns. Select one to see what it is, and click on the Add button to place it into Albia.

Observation Kit
This kit is a one stop check up for all your Norns and has two pages:

Details. Lists all of the creatures in Albia, together with their ages, pregnancy state and overall health.
Alarms. Allows you to set "alarms" that can be used to alert you if a chemical reaches a certain threshold. This is for advanced users.

Ecology Kit
Get to grips with Albias vast ecology with this kit and has two pages:

Map. Displays a complete map of Albia. All areas you have visited are highlighted. You can then select one of the items from the Variables box to see factors such as temperature, radiation, light and air pressure.
Location. Monitors the location of various objects in Albia within areas you have already visited. Select what you'd like to monitor using the Monitor drop-down box. As you explore the world, more and more will be visible. You can jump directly to any of the visited areas by simply clicking there.

Agent Injector
This is your doorway to updates and new objects, expand Creatures with this amazing applet! There are two pages:

Agents. This page lets you select an object and inject it into Albia. You can get many new objects from the Creatures web site (www.creatures.com) and off other sites on the Internet. Select one from the list on the left, and click on the Inject button to place it into Albia.
Analysis. Because you can't always trust what is in a new object, the analysis page gives you the opportunity to check new objects for potentially harmful contents before injecting them.

Creature Graveyard
All things die, except maybe the supply of Navens we get in JRC. When your Norn passes on this kit is your tool to remember him with. There are two pages:

Graveyard. The graveyard shows a gravestone for each of your creatures that has died. Click on one to see the complete gravestone.
New Deaths. When a creature dies, you can use this page to write a few words to remember the creature by and register the death. Clicking on the Register Death button will transfer the gravestone to the Graveyard page.

Power Ups
Through out the world you will see a few power ups, to activate these your Norn must push them. (For those who dont wish to wait for that download Object Pack 2) They let you have new features such as Grendel Ettin select and applets.. the below are the new applets:

Science Kit
Open up to the power of Creatures by diving deep into your Norns workings with the science kit. Contains four pages:

Physical. Shows the status of all of the organs inside the selected creature, the heartbeat and body temperature. You can click on an organ to find out more about it such as the number of chemical reactions present.
dDNA. Advanced option only! You have to find the Advanced Science Kit pick-up in order to access this page. This shows a complete breakdown of the genes in the selected creature. You can expand each of the various gene types to see what kinds of genes are present.
Biochemistry. Graph to monitor the concentration of different chemicals inside your creature's bloodstream. You can show up to 6 chemicals on this graph at any one time, and chemicals are grouped into types so that they are easy to find.
Syringe. Tool to inject the selected creature with chemicals. If you have picked up the Advanced Science Kit pick-up then you can check the Use advanced mode check-box and inject any amount of any chemical you wish.

Neuroscience Kit
Go further into the brain of a Norn.. a scary place! With this applet you can look into how your Norn brain is working. Contains three pages:

Activity. Shows neural activity inside your creature's brain. The brain is divided into lobes, with each lobe represented as a box. You can "fire" a neuron by selecting the strength on the slider and clicking on the neuron you wish to fire. Be warned that any strength above 100% could damage or kill a neuron. Links between neurons are shown with blue and red lines. You can switch one or both of these sets of lines off with the Display options check-boxes.
Layout. Shows brain layout and summary of brain lobes. This page allows you to see how many neurons are in each lobe. By clicking on a neuron you can see all links that neuron has to other ones. For ease of use, you can zoom in and out with the In and Out buttons.
Decisions. Summarizes brain activity in the decision lobe of the brain. When a neuron in this lobe "fires", then the creature will perform the appropriate activity. You can effectively watch your creature "think" using this page. The Reward and Punishment meters at the bottom of this page show the creature learning.

The Breeds
Creatures 2 came with 3 breeds of Norn: Alba, Malay and Hebe.

The Life Kit 1 brought the Golden Desert Norn to Albia

The Frog Norns made their appearance in Life Kit 2.

Sadly Creatures 2 Deluxe only contained Life Kit 1, thus Frog Norns were left out.

Grendels: Creatures 2 came with one type of Grendel, not really scary but fat and big!

Life Kit 1 introduced the female Grendel.

Both the above were packaged in the Creatures 2 Deluxe version. More recently CyberLife with Lis Morris released the Bony Grendel, these scary new breed bring fear to Norns and Ettins and even other Grendels!

To quote Lis Morris the new features include:

- Greater intelligence
- Immunity to heavy metal poisoning: Grendels spend a lot of their time in the volcano, where the high radioactivity gives them heavy metal poisoning.
- A whole new personality: A new 'dancing' gait.
- Easily made breedable: A lot of people love crossing different breeds of creatures, so I felt that making the genome entirely compatible with the original Grendel was a priority.
- Longer live span: These Grendels would live for five hours, given no mishaps. Normal Grendels only live for two and a half. These can be downloaded at www.creatures.co.uk or in our Downloads section.
- Ettins: Created by the Shee to do work a hive of Ettins were uncovered in the labs when the volcano ripped apart Albia. Stupid. Fat. Short Life Span. Cute. Nuff said.

The Life Kit 1 introduced female Ettins and both male and female were packaged in Deluxe.

The first Life Kit for Creatures 2 brings a host of new objects and Creatures to develop your Albia further than ever before! Concentrating mainly on movers the kit allows Albia to be more accessible.

New Creatures
Female Grendels: Along with a new object to turn your male Grendels female comes this set of new looks that are sure to make any male Grendel- or some Norns(!) - wild with desire.

Female Ettins: In order not to leave your Ettins out CyberLife have also presented us with the female Ettins- yay! Although hardly the greatest lookers in town I'm sure your male Ettin's life will become slightly more interesting as he discovers there is more than rubber balls to bounce! :-)

Goldern Desert Norns: Norn lovers fear not, for CyberLife have provided a new Creature breed with lush looks and great features such as dancing, these Norns are a interesting breed to mix into your existing community.

That's not all this Life Kit offers though, as a wide range of objects are also out for you to introduce, making Albia more versatile and interesting for your Creatures.

UFO Lander
Explore Albia with a lunar lander! Be careful not to land too fast or it may explode.

Freeze Gun
Encase Norns, Grendels or Ettins in a solid block of ice by firing an ice bullet at them!

Stone of Ancient Knowledge
Teach creatures all the words that they'll ever need, just by getting them to touch the stone.

Aubergine
New food source that grows in the biopods underneath the volcanic island.

Metamorph Device
An incredible Shee machine that changes the gender of a creature! Can be used to make female Grendels and Ettins.

Flying Saucer
Abduct your Norns in a flying saucer! Great way of getting creatures around Albia quickly. Just place the beacon where you want the flying saucer to drop off the creature and then summon the alien craft.

Solar Powered Helicopter
Charged by the sun, this device can be used to ferry creatures all around the world. By far the greatest COB ever IMO!

Cage Swing
A swing for creatures to ride in!

New Applet
WorldSwitcher Applet
Ever wanted to have more than one Albia? Conduct Wolfling Runs without corrupting your main world? Well now you can, with the WorldSwitcher applet! WorldSwitcher lets you create new Albias, and switch between them on startup. You can even password protect them so that other members of your family can't kill your Norns when you're not looking.

Life Kit 2
This is the best of the kits in many peoples eyes. It is split into two packs and gives us a wide range of objects and a new Norn.

Creation Pack New Objects
Nesting Bluebirds
This injects two families of bluebirds to bug you and your Norns :) They will make nests together sleep and mate making eggs which hatch to babies who grow up and make more. Sadly CyberLife made no virtual sickbags to how cute they are.

Nutrient Plants
Fungolia. The nutrient plant launcher when activated will spray the local area with germinating mist, this will create one plant IF the inorganic nutrient (intr) content of the room is below 245.
Suckralia. The nutrient plant launcher when activated fire two seeds from its launch cannons. The seed(s) will grow into a plant IF the inorganic nutrient (intr) content of the room is above 10.
Plant Killer. For those who wish to be demonic to plants inject a bottle of this and use it on the Spinnomosa and Spikeocausius cacti, the Pear plant and the Triffid plant.

Pigeons
Inject the Pigeon launcher to launch Pigeons and seed everywhere. Follow this with the Pigeon Moniter to keep track of your feathered digital friends showing age, speed and energy. Everyone needs a hobby I suppose.

Diversity Pack New Objects
Anteater
Just wait for the Equal rights for Ants group to show up! This anteater roams about and when hungry eats ants, hence the cunning and shocking name: Anteater. He won't always eat them though so don't worry.

Hummingbirds/flowers
The hummingbirds lead a very simple life, and the introduction of the new tree flower provides them with all the nutrients and nesting materials they need. By day they will feed constantly to counter the energy they burn by flapping so fast, and at night time they will return to their nest and enter a state of hibernation. Hummingbirds are skittish creatures and the presence of Norns near their nests will disturb them.

Wasps Nest
Two wasps nests are injected into the world. A nest may be activated either by you or by a creature, but the wasps will only come out if there is a creature near the nest. They will try to sting any nearby creatures as many times as possible before returning to their nest.

Scorpion
The scorpion lives in the desert. It scuttles about minding its own business, but if a creature tries to push or pull it, it will sting the creature with its tail. Any number of scorpions may be injected into the game. Why not breed a whole demonic army of scorpions and release them on to the net to destroy all living things- bwhahah...ahem.

New Creatures
Frog Norns: When injected frog spawn will appear in the underground lake. This will eventually hatch into tadpoles, who in turn will turn into froglets and then finally adult frogs. The frogs can't survive away from the pond for long, but they do enjoy jumping onto the peer for a sing and then jumping back in again. Kissing an adult frog and finding a strangely attractive member of the opposite sex in it's place is often happening, one who can breathe underwater but is doomed to never stray far from the pond.

Looking for some updates?
Creatures 2 Updates

Creatures 2 has had its fair share of updates, each expanding the C2 Experience. The below is a guide to each one.

Creatures 2 Object Pack 1
This is quite a small object pack, more of a object group holding only 3 COBs.

Electric Gate
This can be used to prevent Norns from going places that they shouldn't! Can be set to allow Norns through one-way, or not allow them from any side.

Puffer Fish.
This cute little fish swims towards drowning Norns, inflates, and drags them up to the surface -- keeping them full of Oxygen all the way! Whilst not always successful, they're a useful addition to the ocean.

Pop Rocket
A harmless little firework for Albia. Make sure there is plenty of room before using it!

Creatures 2 Object Pack 2
Again a small pack, containing 4 objects - two of which are updates. Worth it alone for the ability to remove power ups!

Drinking Update
Alters the scripts for the drinking fountain so that they now give a decrease in thirst as well as dispensing water.

Fungi Update
Reclassifies all the fungi from 'plant' to 'fruit' - this will help with the creatures' eating behaviour.

Underground critter
This puts a special critter into the world who lives under the incubator. He removes the tomato plants and throws the fruit to the surface.

Game State controller
A COB that bypasses the need to get to the pickups. It allows all the extra modes to be activated or switched off: Science Kit, Advanced Science Kit, Neuroscience Kit, Infinite Scroll and the Ettin/Grendel Selection.

Creatures 2 Christmas Pack
Outstripped the object packs COB wise (though perhaps not useful!) this is sure to give a faberoo festive feel!

Grendel Frost
T this will cool down your world as the spirit of Ice Grendel dances in Albia. This cooling effect will allow snow to fall.

Fairy Lights
Injects a string of a Christmas lights in the incubator area. You can clone a string of lights by clicking on it - the copy can then be placed wherever you want them. All lights are controlled by the control box which dictates the flash sequence the lights use.

Turkey
Festive food for creatures. Christmas Pudding - that oh-so-traditional English dessert.

Santa's Little Helper
A festive-look learning critter Fairy Godmother - A little fairy who will make your creatures feel better with a wave of her wand.

Creatures 2 Halloween Pack
Scare your Norns silly with this wide selection of COBs!

Halloween Decorations
Spooky mobiles and pumpkin streamers

Devilish critter
These little guys can teach Norns words just like the learning critters, but only teach bad words like scared and lonely.

Ghost
Creepy ghosts appear and disappear and frighten Norns with their scary laughter.

Jack o' Latern
Scary carved pumpkin lanterns.

Pumpkin Pie
Tasty, mmmmm.

Skeleton
The wandering undead crumble to dust and rise from their graves when Norns are around.

Witch
An evil witch that rides her broomstick across the Albian sky laughing her sinister laugh.

Did you know this?
Creatures 2 Facts
Ten Facts about Creatures 2:


- The planned Creatures 2 postcard was withdrawn due to a error in the URL given on the back among other reasons.

- The entire world of Albia was modelled in the computer.

- C2 is set 1000 years BEFORE Creatures 3.

- The wav file for a Dooser sound if played in reverse is "Hell no, we won't go!" Telling the Shee? :-)

- More wav files, there is a wav called DJ_G in the Sounds dir that is not used in game. Play it to hear the Grendel Rap!

- There is a unfinished (?) poem present in the Extras folder.

- Since there are no Forest, Ron, Mountain or other C1 breeds in C2 are we to presume CyberLife killed them off in the volcano?

- The original Creatures 2 Grendel was withdrawn after being thought TOO scary to be released. This was later released as the update by Lis Morris.

- Aspects of the C2 world can be related to the C1 world, e.g. the sub bay.

- Creatures 2 spawned off jackets, dolls, magnets, posters and desk stands!
