What would you call The Secret of NIMH?
I don't really care about these genre labels since they mostly seem to mean "automobile gunfights often in space" and "elves and dwarves stripped of any character and individuality". Just give me a good movie!

I prefer sci-fi in movies, mostly because people who make fantasy movies tend to make the dialogue just terrible.
Besides every time I think sci-fi I think Starship Troopers, what's not to love? lol

Yes! Exactly Doringo!

Most Sci-fi I know are like, look out of the window and you have a billion ships flying past. Fantasy gets more outdoors and through caves, dungeons and sometimes through different planes of existance. (Though if I knew anything about alternate planes, its that they always seem to be floating islands)

I respect that! To be honest, I really like steam-punk, because it combines my favorite sorts of things! (Victorian era everything, weird psuedo-magical technology, LEATHER AND BRASS...) *Swoons* (whoops, ninja'd!)

Oooh~ This is really tough for me since I love both so much!

Ok... Maybe its not just ships in space! xD
But I just don't like futuristic worlds... :/
I love medieval worlds with castles, horses... Towns... Yeah. ^-^

I am willing to cede the fact that there haven't been a lot of good sci-fi movies lately. (And I do love Fantasy, but seeing Sci-Fi reduced to "Ships in Space" Sort-of pushed a geek-rant button...)

Both have their merits, but I'll have to say I'm more of a fantasy guy.

But what about the vibrant alien worlds you might encounter, the strange civilizations and stunning nebulae? The problems that arise from people being in close quarters for an extended period of time? And then there's the Dune series, Mass effect, HALO, the ring-world series, Eureka, Star-Gate (both of them).
Sci-Fi isn't just Space.
