I really want to get back into playing with PHP and MySQL. Any suggestions for a new website page? I suppose i could always bring back survivor, but i think it's cursed. ;)

I'd love it if survivor came back.

Would it be possible to add a chat feature to the site?

A mark-all-in-this-subforum-as-read-function would be nice. :P
Sometimes it happens that there are a lot of topics about C1 or C2 and I have to look into each just to get the yellow stars away, although I only have C3/ DS! XD

Just wondering, would it be helpful for anyone else if the code command broke HTML code?

So instead of
like this

You could see the 'how to make a URL' CC.com code instead.

I agree with Papriko regarding the mark-as-read button.

A link for the top 10 cob/agent downloads for each game?

And possibly a link for the 10 newest adds to the site per game category.

Since BibbleWorld went down, and for a while before that, no-one has been updating the script reservations.

The management of the entire distribution of script ranges needs to be re-evaluated on top of that, as too many slots taken up by people who never made anything.

I think CC.com should host the script reservation page with an application system/method in place, and I would like to take over managing it.

ElasticMuffin saved an archive of the Bibbleworld reservations, if that helps anyone out?

I agree with you, Moe. I actually brought this up a few days ago, still waiting to hear back from Rascii though. I also have copies of the C1, C2 and C3/DS script reservation pages--it's nice to know I'm not the only person who saved a copy, although I think mine is more "updated" than ElasticMuffin's, since pirate-rob and Bluelance and I are all listed on my copy. I know we aren't on his.

CCaves is a nice place to put it, much nicer than the Wiki, which is the only other candidate that really came up in earlier conversation. I think the main issue Rascii was weighing was the amount of work that would have to go into making it a functioning system, since Bibble's pages were raw HTML.

How about a birthday feature? A part of the site that tells everyone when a birthday is! It would possibly cut down on bday threads (even though they are cool) When its someone bday they could get a gold star under their avatar or sumthing :)

If need be the script reservations could always be converted into a forum topic, one for each game.

I love this idea of having a birthday feature, though I'd hope it doesn't replace those birthday threads. When somebody posts a birthday thread for you, it's like receiving a birthday card. :)

And I don't dabble in CAOS or development at all, but I third (fourth?) the idea of a Script Reservations page here. It'd be a nice accompaniment to CAOS Chaos and the Dev forum.

I noticed some of this thread has become a general "suggestions" thread, of which, I do have a few...

Comments for agents, like the gallery.

Timestamps on PMs.

And something else I forgot... It'll come back to me...

Speaking of the galleries, I know this is a Creatures site, but would having a separate off-topic Art gallery hurt as a suggestion? We have off-topic discussions in the forums, off-topic polls, and I'm sure there's lots of beautiful off-topic artwork that people here have to offer up. Just a shot in the dark. :)

Maybe a system where you can edit your links and news posts after they are approved? :)

Nope, if somebody needs to change something they have to beg a moderator to make the changes for them.

I feel a bit bad about giving another "general suggestion", but some bbcode buttons would be very nice.

If by BBcode buttons you mean to automatically make links and image tags, I have to agree. Seems like every topic and post has to be edited to fix them. lol

Oh yes, that sounds good! In rare cases I also make a few posts for newbies and I know how they look when you add a lot of codes and links and such. Really funny is it when you have to edit them then.
This suggestion is more funny than useful, but what about an advanced color-tag? The existsing ones such as red, purple, or gray would keep their power, but in addition you have another tag where you can make custom colors via Hex-numbers.

@ Laura: No, we really can't. What do you think why I always annoy you when I made a post-pity?

There are a lot of commands, but maybe some of the more frequently used ones (like italicization, color, quotes, etc.) could be visible to the left of the message textbox? Even if they aren't actual buttons it would still be helpful to have some there as a reference. And the full list could still be located under the Commands link.

Images, comments, adoptions, polls, COBs/agents, guestbook entries, links, news articles - all these are site posts. :)

I hadn't realised that members can't edit their own. It would make sense to me if they could, though it's up to Rascii obviously!

Yes, when they edit it though, a moderator will probably have to approve the edit?

Maybe safer login cookies? When you view your cookies you just see your password and all, even when you pick "no" at logging in, and when you log out the cookies are still there.
That's very unsafe when visiting CC.com on someone else's computer. :(

Scoota: I don't think that would be necessary. Moderators already approve the post to begin with, which means it had substantial, veritable, and valuable content.

If a member needs to make changes, there is an established margin of trust between the moderator team and the member who originally made the post. If something does get fishy, then moderators can take action.

So no, I don't believe edits would need to be approved, but that is just my opinion...

----

Rascii! The metaroom page. It needs updating, and perhaps it can have the same submission features as the cobs page for adding, removing, or updating the list as necessary in your absence...?

I can't help but agree with Moe on this one. Think of how crammed full the approval page could end up being, if we had to approve every edited post. :P And, as Moe also pointed out, we look over all the posts anyway. I don't think this forum needs that level of moderation. I think it's all good. :)

Also, you know how people have statuses? Maybe an option to like a status? A bit like facebook? I think it would make the forum more sociable, (even though its very so at the moment :))

It makes me nuts if I have about 5 emails and they all only tell me that I can see something on the page I already was going to visit as next :P

There is a chance that CC.com is vulnerable to XSS-issues. :(
