It's a thoughtful idea, though I'm not sure if the guidelines would be really used... I don't know what other people think about it, but we don't get many people who fail to be specific in the Help forum.
It probably makes sense to just deal with these instances as they occur.
I agree with you Laura, but it can still save some time for both the helpers and the topic starter. Rascii might add a link to that on the "Post Topic" screen if it doesn't attract attention.
I've seen many communities where they have this sort of topic, it can be really helpful.

I just think those guidelines would be a bit redundant, as the majority of users posting for help are specific about their problems. We have enough rules around this place and there isn't enough people for the Help Asking Guidelines to apply to.
It's no real inconvenience to the forum staff to remind the few who don't post more specifically, as it happens so infrequently.
