 | Just a doodle I did in a program called Artweaver. It's nothing special, but it is my tribute to Creatures 2 (because some of the breeds on that game are crazy but brilliant). So, yeah, nothing special. |
 | Recovered from Lake Uncanny is an example of the male counterpart to the female Balloon Molly Ettin that was posted some time ago.
While the tail and the webbing between the "fingers" remain the same, note that the rest of the finnage is more angular than the females. If the original creators had a reasoning behind this somewhat obscure difference between the adults of this breed it most certainly has been lost in the passage of time. (Very much like why they decided to create and perpetuate the breed in the first place, in spite of the troubled health caused by such obvious deformities.) |
 | Evewr wondered what's behind the sunflowers and other background plants in the garden in Albia? Albian ReGenesis will show you this and more. |
 | Here's one part of the Albian ReGenesis bacground that I hope we'll all enjoy as a playable DS/C3 world some day soon(ish). |
 | I told you that I dove headfirst into the depths of Lake Uncanny! (Scribbled on my phone in the free version of Autodesk's Sketchbook Mobile.)
In profile view this is the Balloon Molly ettin, an adult female to be specific. The main difference between the genders are in the fins. The fins of the males are more angular while the females are rounded. Because they are already big-bellied the only way to tell if a female is pregnant is by the color of her belly; the darker the belly, the further along that she is.
Thanks to careless breeding by aquatic enthusiasts the big-bellied trait is one of a few genetic defects in this aquatic breed, going hand in hand with a deformed spine. They are prone to digestive and reproductive difficulties and may develop problems with swimming. In spite of this they are sociable and enjoy eating. |
 | Based off one of DarbyDoo's dreams. Someone make this an actual breed, please? I would but I can't do genetics or sprites! |
 | A cute, little White Haired Pixie Norn. I wish I had Creatures 1, but I don't, so I'll just sit here and complain. D: |
 | Concept idea for a C1-style Egyptian jackal Norn. |
 | It all started with me playing with the sprites using the pencil tool in Paint.NET. One item on this image is explosive. ![[nscared] [nscared]](/images/smilies/emot_scared.gif)
Made in Paint.NET. |
 | A little thing I thought up; Pumpkin B. Spice eating a "carrot". |
 | A fuzzy, intelligent creature. He is affectionate, and requires lots of care. His eyes are midnight blue. His hair is mahogany. His fur is white with black spots. His skin is dark brown.
A lone Norn child in my newest dwarf-fort and the first of his kind to set foot on it's soil. Laura 'won' a Norn picture from me, and with his unique coloring I decided he was a perfect fit. He spends most of his time hanging out in my meeting room, talking to himself as no dwarf can understand Bibble-speak. Besides that, he's well fed, something most Norns back in Albia can hardly achieve, which makes him a lucky Norn indeed. |
 | My CO Norn figurine finally gets a picture! And who better to get it with than the silly cat that likes to attack feet and steal food. |
 | I'm sure this is probably waay beyond the limits of third party development, but I always thought it would be cool if the Creatures map was comprised of layers which sized creatures and agents accordingly. You could have settings to zoom in on a particular layer or blur the other layers, as I've done in the pic.
I made this just to see if the idea actually made sense, but I think it would be a nice way to give the games a 3D touch without compromising their 2D appeal, so I thought I'd share the idea. |
 | This was the only entry in the CCSF art contest, and it contains a wonderful background story from Sam999!
Sam999 says: "'The Shee claim that all kinds of things are needed for anyone exploring an alien planet,' announced the Ettin standing next to the shuttle, 'and they have no idea what they're talking about.' The Ettin paused, then spoke up. 'Silly Shee. All you really need is three items, your set of Ettin Exploration Equipment. A backpack,' the Ettin said, holding one up, 'so you can bring stuff you find home in it. Also try getting some rocks; the Shee geologists like them. A broken piece of equipment, to fix when you get bored.' The Ettin held up what looked suspiciously like one of the shuttle's landing legs.
"Lastly, you'll need a carrot to snack on and plant the seeds of for future explorers. Alien planets rarely have proper Albian carrots."
