Yep, that's a possibility - #2 to be precise. ^_^ The time consuming part is not the modeling, it's compiling and cleaning the sprites after rendering. The heads, in particular. There are 120 separate images for heads for each life stage (in total these end up making 192 sprites, the difference are duplicates/mirror images). Every image has to be run through an automated script, then aligned manually to match with the other frames in the same direction/angle. Then, every one of them has to be inspected by hand and corrected for stray pixels. XP It all takes time, not that I'm complaining... but I'd like the Flaris to be as good or better than the GW breeds, and that means being picky.  ~Flaris Norns!~ |

The CCSF is: Creatures Community Spirit Festival. This year it'll be between Christmas and New Years, it's basically a time when anyone who makes things creatures-related does so, and we all get together to share. Last I heard they aren't available yet. Embri's still working on finding someone to fix the elevator bug. |

I'm sorry, they're currently unavailable. The Flaris are done, but there's a bug (not in my work, but in the Exodus engine Mac port) that causes them to crash the game when riding an elevator. I know everyone is eagerly expecting them, but I've gotten no help in even checking to see that the bug occurs in other games and not just my own, let alone someone to program a fix. Because of this, they unfortunately remain an un-releasable Alpha build until I can find a coder to make an elevator patch. I can't in good faith release something I know can be detrimental to people's worlds, even if it doesn't affect all players. ~Embri~ ~Flaris Norns!~ |

That... really reeks. I'm really sorry to hear that, Embri. I'm trying to imagine a scenario that would lead to a genome/new sprites crashing a game and am coming up blank. O_o Is this related in any way to the Grendel elevator bug, out of morbid curiosity? You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. You could just release them as PC only until you find a fix. The elevator problem could be to do with their size. Are they particulary big Norns or a regular size? |

Isn't there a patch somewhere that's supposed to fix the problem with the grendels? Oh, and I'm guessing the problem is because of their tails (noticed in the 3D model that their tails are a lot longer than most norn's). It's the same problem the grendels have. Their tails are sticking out (kinda funny when you think about it.) I'll try and dig up the patch, although I don't know if it's Mac compatible. Do not upset the ugly worm, lest it be a dragon in disguise. (>oo)> |

I don't know if it's the tail or the head, but it is indeed the size of the Flarises that is causing the crashes. It's intermittent, so only certain poses kill the game. I have tried the Grendel elevator fix and it doesn't resolve the problem - Grendels & Aquanorns also cause the same issue, so the patch is likely not Mac engine compatible. fuzzie/Vamp/muffin are aware of the problem, they (and all the other coders I know) are just really busy, so it's a matter of waiting for someone to have a free day or two to program. =\ ~Flaris Norns!~ |

That's discouraging; I'm working on a Google site right now and it won't be open for at least a few months. The new site was Flaris Norn specific, so maybe it's that Embri's still keeping her old site but hasn't worked on the Flaris Norn site in some time, and so it's been closed by Google. It just seems like too much effort on Embri's part to close the Flaris site - she's not been around for a while, so why would Embri bother closing it? My TCR Norns |

Embri's not really active anywhere unfortunately. There's a short thread about Embri and her projects on Ctopia at the moment, though unfortunately we don't know an awful lot, and what we do know isn't terribly encouraging. Yeah, I got a similar response to Agoeb when I talked to her back in January. I think she got pretty discouraged with the elevator bug thing and not being able to release the Flarises on time. It's no surprise that she feels the need to take a break. Hopefully if we give her some space she'll start to feel the urge to come back some time. *crosses fingers* |

That's a real shame. I hope she's okay wherever she is and whatever she's doing! It can very disheartening when you're passionate about something you're working on, and then you hit a snag which seems unconquerable and you just feel like tossing it to one side for a while. I get that with my poems and stories, though I know that's not the same. |

I wish her good luck fixing that bug, but it is a funny bug, crashing a game by getting onto an elevator. How does that happen? Just imagine something like that in real life. I feel sorry for her, that bug must be hard to fix, because, as we all know, it's extremely hard to fix certain problems, and the amount of time it can take to try to fix the problem, can be frustrating. I side with Laura, it can get hard when you hit a snag. beep |
