Creatures Online in Hibernation Laura | 11/2/2015 | | Today we've learned the disappointing (but maybe unsurprising to some) news that development on Creatures Online has been suspended due to a lack of funding. The original source of this announcement can be found on the French website, Pockett Videogames, but here's a rough translation:
Originally released in 1996, Creatures is an artificial life program by Steve Grand, who worked for Millennium Interactive at the time. It was followed by Creatures 2 in 1998, and Creatures 3 in 1999. These games had marked many players. After a long wait, we were expecting much from Creatures Online by Fishing Cactus (development team) and ProSieben Games and Bigben Interactive (publishers). The project continued to move in April, but according to our information, development is now on standby due to lack of funding. However, various companies continue to announce and mention Creatures Online on their respective websites. The game was announced on iPhone/iPad, Android and PC/Mac. Hopefully a solution will be found!
So, what's next for Creatures Online? Come and discuss your theories and thoughts on this latest development in the forums! |

I'm going to interject here and say that there is nothing wrong with producing games of various genres like arcade flight sims and so on. Afterburner is an old IP of Sega's (created by Yu Suzuki who's mostly famous for Shenmue) and honestly, FC's spin on the series seems like something I would absolutely love to have on a handheld instead.
If you don't like a certain genre then that is fine but their choices in genres do not justify calling them awful. Period.

After burner seem to have been a cooperation with Sega. I took a look at their game library and yes there are a few games that could be classified, but there is mostly puzzles and simulation that I could see on the page

And so on. They might not be the sort of thing I said, but I think they look pretty silly...
Edit: Oh and I didn't say creatures 4 would be that, I said they do that sort of thing.

I have to say I LOVE the art style they went with. Plus the way the maps seem to be set up reminds me of Don't Starve which also happens to be a wonderfully stylized game from a different developer.

I'm so excited about that game Rha!
And it isn't a shoot'em'up and action style game, Ilovegrendels, can you link to the games you are referring? I'd like to see them to compare for myself.

| I'm sorry but this looks great in my opinion, dunno man.

@Deskman: I suppose so. Alright, what I mean is I hope they give up the creatures series. @Jcnorn: Shoot-'em-up style games, action style games, that sort of thing.

I haven't seen a lot of their games, only the one about teaching programming in an interactive way. And that game looked pretty decent enough. What game is it that you saw that you thought was horrible?

A bit harsh is putting it lightly. What, do you expect Blizzard to pick it up?

"I hope they go bankrupt" seems a bit harsh there
