so i havnt seen any of ya'll mention this so now its time to talk about the creatures ps1 game, which was my first introduction to the creatures series
first of all, instead of a hand you controlled a little fairy called "scrubby" and second of all, the creatures were a lot simpler and by that i mean; dumb as rocks, there was however a mutation where norns would walk twice as fast, there was usually one or two per game, they were hard to take care because they would just run, everywhere, i always named it "speedy"
something that interested me though is that you need to have a population of a certain number of creatures before you could go on to the next level, the levels were a forest, a beach, and a cave if i remember correctly
and all the creatures had health bars
heres a video of some gameplay footage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1imdQ9xMBk |

It was my introduction to the series too! I loved the music in the game and as a child I thought everything in it was absolutely amazing.
I loved the mutation where the norns would move quickly. My norns also loved exploring in that game (something I find challenging to get to happen in 3/DS).
Also... I sort of liked seeing my norns status bars. Especially when it was easy to tell when they were sick. I keep having norns in 3/DS randomly die sometimes.
Though last time I played the PS1 version last month or so I had some issues with teenage norns ALWAYS wanting to throw food/hit the doozers. ...At that point I'd let the Doozers bite their ankles or whatever they do in that game. If you didn't wanna be bit you shouldn't have kicked the doozer!
Another issue I had was norns developing narcolepsy where they'd just suddenly get maxed exhaustion/tiredness and just pass out anywhere. Of course that meant my norns were getting sick all the time but one of the herbs in the game easily cured this so it wasn't SO bad. ...Of course the issue ran rampant in the last world and I was like "NOPE RESTARTING." Before I decided to hunt down my Exodus CD and just play regular creatures. xD

I played the PS1 version all the way to the end....except there was no end unlike Raised in space, you just keep living in the last world forever.
I remember there were no screenshots of the game within a game in the PS1 so I actually took two snapshots of it for others to see: 1 and 2 |

Oh man. Boulder norn. I liked the pacman norn game better, but boulder norn was easier to unlock for me since my norns just randomly wandered into the area where the coins were... as compared to the second world where you had to press the 'elevator' button that does nothing in the grendel area, then have a norn go through the oddly colored teleporter at the very left of the bottommost layer.
I was a little disappointed when I found it. I was hoping the teleporter would lead to a hidden paradise under the tropical island at the very right of the second world, since there's no underground there and it upset my OCD.
To be honest my favorite world in PS1 is the first world. It's so pretty and I don't have to worry about my norns wandering too far too fast and then eating a toadstool and dying within seconds in the third world or unleashing the Grendel hoards upon the population in the second world.

oh dude i remember spending a long while trying to figure out how to play that game, i remember something in the guide book faq mentioning how theres a rumor about a secret video game but i couldnt figure out how to do it, after looking at your screenshots i realize it was probably because i kept trying to put the coin in the buttons and not the little slot thing on the side |

My friend got me this game in college and I never was able to get into it. It just made me want to play C2 or C3. |

Playstation game introduced me to it as well.
Too bad that it isn't very good. Music was great.
