RESOLVED

Hello, I am TheDrunkenNorn.

My presence on CreaturesCaves is almost nonexistent, but I have a general forum post on my current Creatures 2 Wolfling run that I update constantly.

I'm experiencing appcrashes on Creatures 2 on a particular world, the important Wolfling Run one. When I try to play, it loads the world, I hear a norn laughing for a split second (As if they're being praised), and then it crashes. Other worlds work fine, but this one does not.

All of the information regarding this issue can be found on my newest post here.

Considering this Wolfling run is the only creative imput I put into CreatureCaves, it is imperative that I recover this world somehow. If any one of you knows of this problem and can solve it, please let me know!

All the information I know about this problem can be found on the forum post, in particular my newest post on 6/29/2016. Thank you.

What was the last thing that happen before you shut down the game? Not talking about the crash, but what you/the creatures were doing 1 minute before it all went to pots?

Well, there had recently been a birth. Other than that, the Norns were just gibbering around doing their normal thing. I *did* hatch the backlog of three eggs with an imported Hatchery (The core one closed a little bit back). I have the "40 norns" cheat enabled though so it shouldn't be a problem. The Wolfling run had a LOT more norns previously than it does currently, from what I remember. That may be the issue though. Also, during this run over 80 norns have perished.

So the last action you did before it went pots was to hatch 3 eggs with an imported hatchery? First time you ever used it in that world or? Ever had any norns get stuck (other worlds) that caused a crash?

That was a thing I did an hour before I left the game. Basically I hatched the eggs, watched them grow up for an hour while watching the Norns flounder about aimlessly. One died during that time. Once the hour was up I quit the game to give my computer a rest. Upon return, the game would not start. Appcrashes.

I think I heard of a bug that makes the game crash when you had played for X number of in game years? I'm not 100% sure that is a thing, but if it is, how many in game years have you gone through?

I don't know, not very many. There's only about 20-30 hours or so into this run. About 100 or so Norns have been in the game total since the start if that gives you a better clue (As in Norns that came, died, were born, died, etc.)

When your wolfing run had a lot more than previously, did you ever close the game? Of did you first close it when it had less norns?

I am thinking it might be overpopulated or that your world is too old as jcnorn mention. I am not a c2 expert so I can't say for sure.

I believe it should be possible to located the folder in which your creatures (from the broken wolfing) are in, you can copy paste them over to a new world. Not sure if that would go against the rules of it, but yeah.

If you can't recover the world, upload it somewhere and I will get you a list of currently living norns in it. Then you can find their gene files in your save folder and hatch them in a new world.

You're amazing GimmeCat. Okay. Personal Message me the info of all I need to find. And thank you.

Rules schmulz the norns are what matter. They've been raised on hours of brutality, generations of starvation and dying. I want to keep the tradition alive, even if that means... moving them to the same exact world, and re-uploading the exact same COBs. I don't see much difference actually. c-c

One note: The Wolfling world is only 5,027 KB large. The default world with NOTHING in it is 2,033 KB.

This will happen again, new world or not. If I can take a look at some of the norns we located, I might be able to figure out why the game is rejecting their genomes.

Did you check that the genomes in our list actually exist in the Genetics folder? Because if the Genetics Kit doesn't find that filename, that could be why you were getting that error.

And if that's the case, it's possible I may have pulled the wrong values out of the world file. I'll go back and take another look at it. (it's been a while since I last did this!)
^(Edit: Double-checked my method. I definitely pulled the correct values. So theoretically, they should exist...)
