For the first day of the CCSF, Ghosthande has released a pack of Portal-inspired agents, including the Companion Cube, GLaDOS's Cake, the Intelligence Core, a Radio, Scoport and the Turret.
Sam has submitted a Grendel adoption and a piece of artwork depicting that Grendel doing what he loves.
Ylukyun has made a banner wishing all a happy CCSF, a spirit I'm glad to see around.
Tisairy has contributed three adoptions for today: Fig G., a sweet Grendel, Kazil, who has a unique reaction to feeling friendly, and Quinca the long-limbed wanderer.
ArchDragon has released some of his older artworks on his blog, The Arch.
There are three new competitions to enter this CCSF. Fancy designing the 'Norn Breed of the Future'?
Don't be disheartened if you feel you've run out of time to contribute to the festival; Laura is still accepting submissions!

Hello everyone, this is just a friendly reminder:
With the Creatures Community Spirit Festival 2011 now only two weeks away, it's now time to start thinking about completing any outstanding submissions you'd like to have featured. As usual, all submissions can be sent to lauraval(at)gmail.com.
So far I've received lots of exciting and varied submissions, and I just know you guys are in for a real treat when they're released; if only you knew of the delights that are currently stored on my hard drive!
Also, don't forget, you can still send your creatures in for the CCSF Creatures Sampler and get involved in Amaikokonut's CCSF Blogathon Challenge.
See you in two weeks! |
I was surprised to find there was an almost complete lack of Creatures videos on YouTube, and at a time where 'Let's Plays' are big hits on the site, it seems strange that more people haven't posted up videos showing just what a wonderful set of games the Creatures series is.
So I have made a start on a series of my own, exploring Creatures 2, where I hope to show what the game is about, as well as how to find and install COBs, share creatures, get in touch with other members and even show off Wolfling/Feral Runs with Norns that have been sent in (eventually).
I can't do this on my own though. I need people to comment and give me their ideas. I also need others to post their own videos and share their own game stories.
Watch the first video HERE!

Gameware has now migrated from their .co.uk domain to .com - but the official download URLs have been left pointing to .co.uk instead of to their new .com home.
To download from Gameware's website, copy the download URL into a new screen and replace .co.uk with .com. |
Do you like to blog? Would you like to blog? Have you considered starting a blog? Well, there is no better time than the CCSF!
The concept is quite simple. To participate, simply commit to publishing one blog post a day during the fourteen days of the CCSF!
It's not as hard as you may think! For more information and ideas, check out this post, and be sure to check the blog list to find new creatures blogs and add your own! |
With less than six weeks to go until the CCSF 2011 officially kicks off, I'd like to put out a call for another kind of submission:
Stories, poems, crafts, fanart, comics, websites, screenshots, wallpapers, graphics, videos, photographs, collages; ANYTHING that represents that spirit of creativity which has fuelled our imaginations about Creatures, and has brought the world of our creatures to life!
Thank you for the all submissions I've received so far, and remember you can register yours by sending them to lauraval(at)gmail.com. Join in and get yourself mentioned in the festival credits!
The countdown egg is hatching...

Malkin has come up with an event for this year's CCSF that EVERYONE can take part in:
We're all here, in some way or another, because of the creatures. So why not create, for the CCSF... a creatures sampler, a census, a snapshot - these creatures being either cool creatures we've taken a shine to or representative of what we're breeding in our worlds this year, right now, 2011.
It's something we can all do, and I'm looking forward to seeing what we've all got running around in our worlds! The more, the merrier.
Pictures can be extracted from C3/DS creatures at The Creature Repository.
Creatures can be submitted zipped with a picture and a few choice words to Laura at lauraval[at]gmail.com.
So, I hope you're all ready to have a good ol' dig around in your worlds and send me your creatures, for I have something fun in store... don't let them miss out on the limelight!

The details of the Creatures Community Spirit Festival 2011 are here!
Date: November 1st to November 14th
Co-ordinator: Laura
Theme: New Faces: new users, creators starting small, and perhaps a new game to boot.
Thank you to everyone who voted in the surveys and helped spread the word around the community; the response so far has been great.
This is a momentous year! After waiting for more than a decade, our beloved Creatures series is FINALLY seeing its next incarnation in the upcoming Creatures 4! People are super-excited, old faces are showing up again who had previously left the community and new developers are appearing. It's a very fun time to be a Creatures fan, so let?s all really work together to make the CCSF 2011 extra special and a celebration to remember!
With the date and our theme decided, it?s now time to start thinking about those all-important submissions. This year we'd love it if EVERYONE contributed at least one thing to the festival and thus have their name in the event credits. While breeds, agents, COBs and metarooms have always featured greatly, for those of you who aren?t developers there are many other contributions you could make. Need some inspiration? Whether it?s a website, blog, Wolfling Run, breeding challenge, some adoptions, fan fiction, fan art, photos of the Norndoll you made the other week, or photos of your Creatures collection, there are plenty of ways to get involved; don?t miss your chance to join in the fun!
An e-mail account will be set up for people to send their submissions to in due course. In the meantime, please start thinking about what you?d like to submit!

I'd like to welcome you to Caos of the Creatures Realm.
It's a blog dedicated to providing sprites to coders who are in need of sprites for their projects. I'm posting about the blog now in the hope that it will be of use to coders who want to make stuff for the upcoming CCSF 2011.
If you are a beginner looking for sprites to practice with, or if you are an experienced coder looking for a new project, or looking for sprites to fit one of your current projects, please feel free to use the sprites I have posted on the blog. If you are an artist and you have sprites that you want to see used in the Creatures games, send me a PM and I will post them up on the blog so coders can find and use them. (Please only send sprites that you have made yourself, no copyrighted sprites/images from other games, or anything like that).
I am hoping that this blog will help with allowing more things to be made for the CCSF, so feel free to use the sprites for your projects and lets see how many finished projects we can submit to the CCSF 2011!
