| One of my Abyss Dragons, Bashful Pest, carried a squid from the Norngarden around for a good 5 minutes and seemed deeply confused by it. I thought it was entertaining so I doodled this while I was cooking lunch. c: |

I don't have that metaroom so have no idea about the squids. But it's not drop confusion; that's something different. What Geat_Masta was talking about is the fact that Norns can't learn that 'drop' is only something you do when you're already holding something. They routinely attempt 'drop' when their hands are empty, and they can't learn not to do that.
EDIT: By the same token, they don't understand that they can't 'get' when already holding something, or that 'getting' the same object multiple times in a row doesn't make any sense.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure those squids are edible...

The Norngardens are usually pretty good in terms of stimuli - perhaps it was the 'drop' confusion that Geat_masta was talking about elsewhere? Lovely art, btw.

I bet that was it, poor thing had no idea why THIS particular food stuff was just not edible.

Are those squids 'critters' but not edible? That may well have been the source of the confusion. Inedible critters and bugs always throw them for a loop. They have no way to understand why they suddenly can't eat it.
