| This was inspired by conversation about potential grendel breeds that happened...quite a long time ago, as such it isn't my idea but I don't remember who's. They described a grendel breed that was placid but highly toxic to norns.
The spots are loosely inspired by the blue poison dart frog.
Feel free to use for inspiration for sprites. |

I'd want fire-engine red, myself. Great concept!

I totally agree about green rather than blue. It can be genetically coloured later and they surely don't necessarily have to represent blue poison dart frogs specifically (which are a single breed in a highly diverse species may I add). That's just kind of what first came to mind for striking markings. I do think people tend to forget about genetic colouring a bit when it comes to making sprited breeds.
I kind of had Creatures 1 and Creatures 2 in mind with the design, but mostly because their designs were closer to what I was trying to achieve, a tail would probably be in order for Creatures 3/DS, which is where they'd most likely end up.
I don't think the "face" command which could be used to generate it's toxicity is present in Creatures 1 or Creatures 2.

Very cute! The smooth skin and friendlier looks brings my mind back to the C1 grendels
I think it's a pretty smart fuse of frog features, they're subtle and thus you keep the impression of a grendel. I personally favor the ones with regular ears over the ones with frills; the frills sort of give a feel of "Creature-from-the-black-lagoon" instead of amphibian.
An amusing detail could be that the babies has tadpole tails, and possibly letting the adults have a small tail in order to make them fit better with grendel breeds.
A colorful breed with black markings would be a lot of fun to hue swap. I think it would be a good choice to actually make the sprites green & black, making them fit the other breeds better. Then ones could create genetics that hue swap the colors instead.
