 | These are some prototype heads for a custom breed I'm working on. I'll go over the details:
- Design may or may not be influenced by anime
- More markings in old age
About the gray-scale colors, I intend to make these a base for colored breeds. I've heard colors show better on gray. So, that's pretty much it right now. Anything I could change? Who else thinks the scared sprite looks more like it just got scarred for life? |

Pigment shows up better on grey breeds. Pigment bleed shows up more brightly on already-bright colours, though some people like the pastel tones that grey produces in this scenario.
Pigment Bleed mutations looking bright on grey sprites is extremely rare, it needs a "neon" mutation which are highly unlikely to naturally occur and are finicky about passing down.

I agree with Doringo on this. It reminds me very much of Animal Crossing in a number of ways.

Looks rather animal-crossing inspired.

I tried making breed sprites years ago without any of the creatures software or anything, I got through a life stage's full head sprites of just one gender. I can't remember quite what I calculated it as but if you're going to make every single piece of a new breed with unique genders and life stages you're looking at making hundreds of images AT LEAST unfortunately... combine that with having to compile and play test all of them and having to potentially fix parts and edit body data... let's just say I only WISH it was more do-able for one person and not a marathon uphill.

I've tried to install GIMP,but stupid Windows 64 bit is stupid.

I third GIMP! It is *far* easier to use than Blender, unless you intend on doing 3D models.

I install stuff all the time on my home computer.Laptop, not so much.

Ghosthande recommends Blender as a free graphics tool - it can be used to create 3D looking images. Of course, it's important to double-check that it's ok to install new programs on your computer before doing so.

It's a really good start. You might try a Sprite tutorial if you want to go for the pixel art look? It might also look more like a cat if it had a muzzle. I also second Gimp, it's free and it's really useful in most cases.
