I am running C3DS on an Acer Nitro gaming laptop with 64G of RAM. I have about 24 hours of play so far (oldie returning player). At first there were no memory problems, but now I am getting out-of-memory error notices. On a game that was developed when 64G of RAM was unthinkable. Also, it happens when I try to load my current world, but not on previous test worlds.
Is this an indication of some kind of corruption or incompatibility rather than an actual memory problem? Any suggestions for what I can do from outside the game? It is the first world where I have imported norns from a download. Should I remove the imported norns and, if so, how do I do so? What else should I look for, or do?
The world that fails to load is in an early state, just 2 generations, 8 total creatures. If I have to delete and start over, not too much loss except time spent setting up metarooms (Morpheri and Daedalus). |

I may be mistaken here, but I think the memory problem isn't your RAM, but the disk. You are probably running it off a big hard drive, right? Maybe a TB or two? If I recall correctly, the issue lies with modern drives being too big. Some overflow shenanigans happen and the game thinks said drive is filled up to the last byte.
You may have to go to your DS installation folder and tweak the compatibility settings of your engine.exe. I'm afraid I forgot the exact fix, though. Sorry.

Yes, it is a 2TB. I will experiment with the compatibility settings. Thanks! |
