Hello, All, I am coming back to Creatures after a several year absence. I had some elaborate worlds with lots of addons and metarooms, but then RL happened, and then the laptop died. I happened to notice on Amazon that I could still download Creatures Exodus and I thought, hmm, life is better now, new faster laptop, go for it. It took me two days to get the game to run on Windows 10, then to remember how to play it and to track down the favorite agents and rooms I remembered. So far so good except that I am running into an odd problem. I tried to search the forum but found nothing about this. A world will start out ok but after some playing time the mouse will no longer scroll between rooms. The first time I thought oh well it was just a test run anyway. Now I have a nice world setup and a couple of generations going, and this one did it, too. I also had a test world set up, checked that, the mouse wheel moves to the rooms ok on that one. So it must not be a hardware problem. I am running C3 and DS docked. Just about impossible to play without that scrolling. Having to drag Norns by the hand through several doors is tedious, and some rooms I cannot walk them to, as they are in the Universal Hub. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Forgot to add: going back into the game after shutting down does not fix it. |

Hmm.. Is your mouse needing new battery's or is it pretty good?Or is it even battery charged at all? Also you could have bought Exodus on GOG.com for 5 buxs Most of the time i never scroll rooms,and even if i do i have no problems like this,however ill see what i can do. Even if i can't fix this problem i recommend getting the Ctrl+Left Shift powerup, you click them with those keys and badaboom!You have your creature in your hands with just two keys! I hope that powerup helps, also you find it in the Aquarium room in the water  i love waffel!  |

If your keyboard has them, you can use the PgUp and PgDn keys to scroll between rooms instead of the mouse wheel. |

Do your favourite places still work correctly? The mouse wheel code is in the new_ds_fav_places.cos file, but I'm hesitiant on letting you reinject that cosfile, as it seems it removes all existing favicons. And that isn't exactly a handy fix. Does pgup pgdown work? If not, the controller object for going through the rooms might have somehow been removed/autokilled/corrupted. If you feel like trying to remove and reinject this controller, you'll have to open the ingame CAOS console by holding ctrl-shift-c ingame, then copypaste this line of text into the game: enum 1 1 225 kill targ next new: simp 1 1 225 "blnk" 0 0 0 mvto 0 0 imsk 35 tick 1 Let me know if this works! It should only work if pgup pgdown doesn't work either, though. (You can also put norns into your inventory by pressing ctrl-shift-I once you're holding them. You guys are the best!!! My mouse seems to be ok outside of this one world. I had forgotten about the PageUp-Down buttons. A way to put norns in inventory??? Wow, thanks! Between these two tips maybe I can save my little world. Off to see if this solves the problem. I hesitate to mess with the CAOS but good to know that is an option and have the exact code. Thanks, everyone, for the quick replies. |
