Please stop renaming uploads! | |

All downloads being renamed to their database ID (143.zip, 780.rar, etc.) is making keeping track of what I've downloaded from who way more painful than is necessary; I tend to avoid Creatures Caves if there is any alternative whatsoever when downloading Creatures mods for this reason.
This may seem like a small detail to get ruffled over but it's been grating on me for years. Change the uploader to retain the names of uploaded files, please?
(Yes, I'm aware I can rename files. This is about irritations, maintaining file history, and programming decisions that seem baffling at best; I can tolerate it. If I couldn't tolerate it I wouldn't be here complaining, you know?) |

I agree with this. Not sure why they would need to be renamed. |

It might be faster to private message Rascii directly about this. He's not online very often at the moment, and when he is, I've gotten the impression that he doesn't always check the forums. At least with a private message he should receive a notification in his personal inbox.
... Now I've said that, he's going to come online today and respond. You watch.
I agree though, names instead of numbers would be better, if possible! |

I agree too. Even if keeping filenames isn't feasible due to potential conflicts, the original name should still be retained somewhere, e.g. 780_Sleep_Update.zip instead of just 780.zip. |

How would updated zip files (version 1.1, etc) be handled?

By appending the version number to the end? |
