CAOS tool error: caos.syntax? (fixed) | |

To make a long story short: I tried out an experiment on the Docking Station engine that was made by one of our fellow members. Somehow, this led to an extra Docking Station installation on my computer. Ever since this happened, the CAOS tool has been giving me the following error on startup:
D: \Downloads\Docking Station\Docking Station\caos.syntax
This file does not exist or is not compatible with this version of CAOS. You need the right version of the engine for the right version of CAOS. |
Is there any way to specify what game the CAOS tool binds to? I've long removed this extra version of Docking Station from my computer. Besides I've tried to reinstall my main Creatures Exodus installation, as well as the CAOS tool. If I try to Refresh Syntax (CTRL+U), Bind Game (CTRL+B) or Launch Engine (CTRL+L) the error still persists, leaving me unable to load any bootstrap files in the CAOS tool. |

I'd search for that filepath in your registry. That's the only place it could be hiding. If you find it, changing it to the correct install location should fix things. |

Well, that version of Docking Station is no longer on my computer. So I have no idea why the CAOS tool still seeks caos.syntax in that filepath. Sorry for not being more specific.
Edit: I managed to fix the problem by running the Creatures Remastered Patch. |

Orphaned registry entries is exactly why it would still be looking in a place that no longer exists. And since I'm fairly sure what the Remastered Patch does is fiddle with the registry, that seems to have been the correct answer.
Glad you got it fixed! |
