Why are my Norns dying early? (C2)

I think they're probably starving, since when I look inside the Observation Kit, it shows their health status as "Starving", but looking inside the Science Kit signifies possible organ failure. I can keep them alive by using the Defibrillator and a Metabolism Transplant, which will help keep them alive for a brief time until they die again.

But could this be a glitch in my version of Creatures 2, which is the GOG version? Or are they succumbing to high/low temperatures, rather than just organ failure or a genetic mutation?

The organ failure could be caused by starvation. Have you tried Cannies?

The way starvation kills them also kills all the organs, so the organ failure thing is kind of a red herring. If the observation kit says they're starving, they're starving. C2 norns are notoriously dumb.

Even with the improved genetics, I get a pretty high attrition rate, all due to starvation.

Use JayD's Canny variant for norns that feed themselves and avoid wallbonking. Best genetics out there, IMO.

Where can I download them? And how do I 'install' them once they're downloaded?

It seems C2 Norns are less 'intelligent' than C1 Norns. In C1, if I say "food" or something similar to my Norn, they'll always eat it, even when they're not hungry. In C2, however, if I try saying "food", they just seem to ignore me, even when they're shouting that they're extremely hungry and want me to "get food". [nquestion]

Have you tried telling them "eat food"?

There's a COB floating around that lets creatures consume food when they push it, like they did in C1. That could be helpful if you can find it. I'm not sure where you can get JayD's Canny variant at the moment - the website they were hosted on went down - but I'm sure someone here has a copy.

Try this one. It's based off JayD's variant and may even be slightly better, though I've never tried them myself.
