Wile playing C3/DS, I've discovered that Elevines are much better than elevators/lifts because creatures don't end up trapped in them, so I'd like to remove them. I was going to find the .cos files and take those out, since it works with critters and bugs, but I don't know what the files are named and I don't want to remove the wrong thing. That method also won't help me with metaroom elevators/lifts. I vaguely remember seeing something about a command that lets you remove objects, but I can't find that.
I don't suppose someone here could tell me what to do, or direct me to a place that will tell me what to do?
I made a practice world to try out Killhots. When I try it on the elevator in the Meso, it says "Invalid object". Am I doing it wrong, or is it just not possible to remove the elevator?
It's "kill hots". It deletes whatever is currently under the cursor pointer's fingertip, but it is permanent (for that particular world) and it will delete literally anything under the pointer... including Creatures and UI elements, so exercise caution.
If you do accidentally remove something vital though, you could always use the JECT command to reinject the lost agent. The way this works is:
JECT cos_filename flags
Replace cos_filename with the name of the cosfile (Basically an agent the world injects when it is created, you can find them in the bootstrap folder) and replace flags with a number, the number determines whether the game will run the remove script, event scripts or install script.
The number for "flags" is a sum of these numbers:
1 - Remove script
2 - Event Scripts
4 - Install script
So if you entered 7 as flags, since 1+2+4=7 then it would run the remove script, the event scripts and then install script, effectively reinjecting the agent, which would be the best solution if you accidentally removed a lift or something. Whilst if you simply entered 1 as your number, you would only run the remove scripts, effectively removing the agent from the world, and entering 6 would inject the agent back into the world as 2+4=6.
However, even with this knowledge be very careful using killhots around creatures!
Oh, I see what I did now. I thought having an object under the hand meant that it would target the object, so I had the hand hover in the air above the object. It works much better now that I put the hand in the right place. And yes, I will be careful with it. Thanks for the help!
EDIT: I was trying out what Ghosthande said to do, and then typing a reply when Doringo replied, so I missed it at first.
Though I do plan on leaving most things alone, it's good to know how to reverse what I did just in case, so thanks for the information, Doringo.

Funny thing... With the CAOS thing open in the game, I accidentally typed a 1 and then hit enter before realizing it. It made it impossible to move around using the arrow keys. Had to delete that world and make a new one >.< So, yeah, removing a thing on accident isn't the only danger.
creatures caves is your #1 resource for the creatures artificial life game series: creatures, creatures 2, creatures 3, docking station, and the upcoming creatures family.
