I have been away from creatures for a couple of years. Have just come back to it and found I had to reinstall my game onto the computer. I am running XP with service pk 2. I had no trouble reinstalling Creatures 3 but with DS I am having trouble. I have downloaded it but it is version 189. Okay I get it installed but now can't create a new docked world because it can't register the new world. I do have my old user namer and password which is pretty useless. How do I work around the need to register a new world? Is there any way I can upgrade from version 189 to what was the newest one, which I think was 195?
Thanks

Uninstall the DS you have now, reinstall 195 in its place, then get http://creatures.cmainframe.com/Downloads/disablelogin.zip . |

Hi Anne. Creating a world in DS, at least the "normal way," requires two things: Internet connection and a functioning Docking Station server. You can control the first thing, but the status of the server depends on Gameware, so if it's down then there's nothing you can do but wait.
To get around that, there is a bypass registration "patch" that you can download, but I don't remember where you can get it from. Hopefully someone else on the forum can point you in that direction.
ETA: ...I don't recall Gryph having a post right above mine. The patch posted above is the one you want.
You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

I know the patch comes with Creatures 1 to Docking Station (that's where I got it), but I don't know where it can be found free...

Free? C12DS is free. Unless you meant by itself... |

Thanks for the replies people. I wasn't even sure if the server ever was operational, glad to know it is sometimes :-)
I've downloaded the bypass but I am having trouble finding a 195 version of DS for downloading. I'll keep looking but in the mean while any one got a link to it?
found a site which has DS 195, downloading now!

I honestly didn't know v189 was actually available anywhere in the first place. |
