Help pwease!
I can't get Creatures 2 to run on XP. I can get it to install and such, but it crashes as soon as I try to load it up. I know that Gameware used to have how to do it, but they went down as my new computer was going up. ):
This makes me very sad as I cannot get C2, my favorite of them all, to run on XP!
I followed TreeSprite's tutorial/tips on their site, but it wouldn't work.
Does anyone know the magical way to post-volcanic Albia? |

How does it crash? Does it appear for a moment, and then close to the desktop? |

Yep. I get a split second of 'environment' sounds too, and it's gone. There's no leftover pieces - I've checked my Task Manager each time.
Why does it tease me so?! *wail* |

Split second of environment sounds? That's what happens to me on Vista(I love Vista, however, despite that...) It makes me think there must be some way to run it, however obscure. Why would it run for even a second, if there were no way to make it compatible?
It always runs perfectly on my XP laptop. Maybe try compatibility mode(switched to Windows 98).
Edit: Wut? I meant Windows 98. |

So far, I've tried Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT compatilibility modes, to no avail. ): Each gives me the same response.
You don't have any other boxes checked in the Compatibility tab, do you? I just tried a few of them, but they didn't do any good. |

i think it's more to do with the registry entries than what compatibility mode it's running under =\

If that's the case, any idea how to edit them to run on XP? |

I wish I knew how to fix that. It runs on my laptop, so it has to work some way. All I did was install it, then put it in compatibility mode for Win98, then switch to 16-bit. I don't get it...and that frustrates me. |
