The BSTL Machine has arrived!
What does it do? Find out! Put in any object and press the green button, the machine will do the rest.
Make sure the object you put in is not too big or small, and won't be missed. Really complicated objects might look funny when they come out, but that's a small price to pay for Science!
Many thanks to Ghosthande for providing the sprites for the machine itself.

You can if they're small, but it won't accept them. Sorry!

Hmm, should I give more information about what the BSTL Machine does, or do you think everyone has already figured out how it works?
I'm pretty sure there's a few details you guys might not have discovered yet. Have you discovered what two objects of the same type might do?

Well, they do more than just get spoilers, they also make more spoiler when they eat enough spoiler, and some even spoiler around the room!

Lol, I just wasn't sure how secret the function of this agent was meant to be - like if it was as secret as the Mystery Agent, which spoilers.

There were a few bugs in the BSTL Machine that caused some things to not work right.
I'll release a fixed version soon, the main issue is that the objects were too picky about their diet, not aware of how high things were and forgot to die when their time had come.
Once this is fixed, everything should behave a lot more lively once more.

^ Which reminds me. Malkin's told me that the sprites have issues with Rainbow Spew on Macs. I've been meaning to check out Bobcob and see if I can create a fixed version, but with all the hubbub and excitement of Christmas haven't even had a chance to look in the .zip file yet.

Well, if you manage to fix it, I'll replace it when I repackage the agent with the bugfixes.
I wish I knew how to prevent that rainbow spew without having to use BobCob, perhaps the images have to be saved in a certain BMP format?

Malkin and I did somewhat extensive research on this issue over the summer.
It's the old 555 vs 565 sprite format issue. CL in all their infinite wisdom didn't bother to include a conversion or identification system in the official sprite editor, thinking the problem with computers rendering 555 vs 565 saved-format sprites was resolved with the C3 engine, which it was...on Windows.
Bobcob, being a C2 based tool made in the time when spews were still a menace to hands everywhere, has conversion and identification of the sprite format in its sprite editor. That's why Bobcob's sprite editor works for resolving this issue.
In order to work on Macs your sprites must be in 565 format. CL's tool will [sometimes] adopt the format of whatever file you open, so you can try opening a known-to-be 565 type file, deleting the sprites/replacing them with yours, and then saving. That might work, otherwise, save as .s16, convert with Bobcob’s sprite editor, and use the official tool to convert back.
The sprite features of the Jagent tool-set might also work, but I don’t recall if we verified this.
Good luck, and I hope that helps.

It's *possible* you can affect the way the CL sprite editor saves it's files via altering the BMP format, but not likely and it didn't work in any of my tests with Malkin.
It's really just a difference in the header of the file's structure that changes which tells the engine how to read certain colors, which is completely independent of the images themselves. A good theory though, as the BMP format can make the images look really funky if it’s off. |

More information always helps! I think this gives me a much better understanding, thank you.

Blergh, that sucks. I really don't want to have to jump though even more hoops just to get the format right.
Oh well, I'll just be careful with which BMP format I use, maybe it'll work out.
EDIT: I uploaded a new version, the agent should work much better now and be less picky about its eating habits. And much better at actually getting to its food.
The rainbowspew thing is also solved.

Ooh, I wonder what this do- aah!
My Shee Plushie just became a cyclops and is wandering about the Meso! *giggle* Are the red, yellow, and green buttons on the left supposed to be click-able? They light up when I hover over them, but I can't seem to actually press them.
Anyway, awesome agent!
You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

The lights are just decoration. I thought they were pretty.
As for the cyclops, don't forget to feed it. And maybe give it a buddy? It'll prefer another Shee plushie cyclops though.
