Agents Inheriting Tints?

I'm working on a plant for DS, and part of the seed has a specific tint. The first stage of the actual plant still has that part of the seed visible, and I need to get the agent's tint values so that I can make it the same color as the seed agent. The documentation says you can use TINT, but it also says that it only works on creatures, and trying to use it anyway just gives me a syntax error. What should I do?

I would recommend looking at how the Bramboo and Rainbow Sharkling manage their hereditary tints.

Store the tint values you need in OVxx or NAME vars whenever you set them the first time, then retrieve them from the parent using targ or MVxx later.

if I recall correctly this is exactly how bramboo and sharklings do it, their code is worth studying regardless but that's the condensed version.
