Anyone here play Creatures 2? The game had a set of chemical mixtures in the science kit that could be injected without requiring to obtain the advanced science kit first, and it was possible to make your own mixtures by editing the file which the science kit uses for them.
Custom mixtures present some other benefits besides being able to be used in the initial science kit, as you can use it to quickly inject a set of chemicals without scrolling through the chemical list in advanced mode and injecting each chemical one at a time.
So I noticed that there are no threads on this site for sharing custom mixtures, so I decided to make this!
How to use/make custom mixtures in five steps:
Step 1: Go to the folder named Applet Data in your Creatures 2 folder.
Step 2: Find a file called ChemMixtures, the one you edit depends on the language of your Creatures 2 installation. If you're using the English version just use the file "ChemMixtures" with nothing after it.
Step 3: Open the file in notepad. (Don't forget to back it up!)
Step 4: Make/Paste the custom mixture on the next line below the existing mixtures, as said at the top part of the file the format is: name|description|red|green|blue|chem0|conc0|chem1|conc1|...|chemN|concN
Step 5: Save the file (making sure you overwrite the existing ChemMixtures file) and test it out in game.
The description of chemicals don't seem to serve much purpose, as it isn't displayed in the science kit as far as I know...
So to start off, here are some custom mixtures I've made:
Elixir|A sick creatchi's best friend!|100|255|100|150|255|151|255|155|255|156|255|157|255|158|255|159|255|99|255
Antibodies|Protects your creatures from antigens.|100|255|255|240|50|241|50|242|50|243|50|244|50|245|50|246|50|247|50
It's intentionally meant to refer to Creatchi rather than Creature, because it's pretty much based off of the elixir from creatchi. Hence why it is green.
Oh and it's also rather overpowered compared to the other mixtures.
Is there any particular program you should use when saving the altered file? I tried doing it but it crashed on me... maybe because I've got a split installation.

creatures caves is your #1 resource for the creatures artificial life game series: creatures, creatures 2, creatures 3, docking station, and the upcoming creatures family.
