Tiger Norns
CeruleanSilver

CeruleanSilver
United States

This is a breed I've made that is very much WORK IN PROGRESS. I need help, advice, and play testing. Even the name is a placeholder.

Much love to Kezune for creating the CFE Gizmo Bengal genome on which this was based.

Notable Features:

[Population Control] These norns shouldn't breed until adulthood; when their sex drive creation gene is activated. This gene is deactivated at old age, and they have much shorter lifespans. It's hard to play test this part, but I estimate it's about three hours. Please correct if wrong, and I will update once my most recent wave of mutants kicks it.

[Grendel Friendliness] I was pretty distressed when a mostly treehugger norn grendel cross was killed by plain bruin norns. I've removed the frightening grendel instinct and the hit grendels when angry instinct. The hit grendels when angry instinct has been replaced with a more appropriate "express needs" result. DO NOT expect them to be little angels, because I've seen norns kill each other and these tiger norns are no different. I've simply removed the instincts which were specific to grendels. Also, I think this makes it easier to train grendels, because I've had issues with normal norns smacking around a grendel till he opened a can of butt kicking on principle.

[Crawling] These norns have had their adult poses removed up till old age and will crawl up till then.

[Social] To me, it is really creepy when Gizmo norns stare into one another's eyes for hours. I've made "approaching" less rewarding in the boredom department and I also removed the crowdedness reduction for hitting. Pain from being hit has been slightly reduced, along with laying an egg. I have no defense for reducing the pain involved in laying eggs, except that I myself am female. There, I said it. "Being home" no longer reduces boredom, only comforts. They still do the creepy stare thing, so suggestions are very welcome.

This breed has been approved and is available for download on this site under adoptions. Please check them out!

Updates:

Added slightly more boredom reduction for travelling, per Malkin. Crossbreeding seems to result in some pretty volatile gaits and is extremely hit or miss on whether or not the norns move. May add in adult gaits as a side version for those who wish to add these norns to an existing CFE Gizmo gene pool.

I hate to bear such news, but for me, the zip file won't unzip - is this the case for anyone else?

Have you considered making travelling more interesting for the tiger norns?

Okay, so the dust devil legs didn't pan out, but that's okay! It was something interesting I wanted to try. I think I may have goofed the .zip file, cause I just uploaded the .gen file. Sorry! I'm really new to this. I'll upload a couple norns to the downloads sections instead of the breeds with slightly more interest in travelling and also no excess leg gene. If some moderator could delete that breed I posted up, that'd be awesome, just cause it got all goofed up.

Ok, I've deleted it for now. :) For future reference, please zip your download files before uploading them to Creatures Caves!

I think there's also a neuroemitter that makes norns scared at the sight of grendels - perhaps that should also be eliminated?

Yup, that's the "grendel frightening" instinct I was referring to. Sorry for the mess up, my adoptions upload should be appropriately zipped.

The Tiger Norns may feel more at home in the Breeds section, actually. Please consider posting them there; the file can still be replaced as new versions are made. :)

I really like the sound of these so far, though. It sounds like they share some characteristics with real tigers! I mean, they must be pretty fearless in order to socialise with Grendels. :P

Thank you for adding in links to everything. I'm sure it'll be helpful for navigating. When I posted up my breed, I found I couldn't edit it.

As far as the norn's being fearless, I just wanted a breed that complimented Grendel Man's friendly banshee grendels and my own rampant experiments in cross breeding. I have one breed of norn running around that can naturally breed with a slightly edited friendly banshee.

Their "I've been hit" stimulus gene has had its pain reduced slightly to compensate for the indiscriminate behavior of some less then obedient grendels.

Huh, I didn't realize the staring was a Gizmos-in-general thing. I thought it was just a weird behavior a pair of mine had learned.
