800 x 600 if I remember correctly.

It should be 800x600. The game natively runs at that resolution, and if you put it in fullscreen it will run at that, stretched out to fill your screen if necessary. I have never seen a metaroom smaller than that, and I am not sure what would happen if one were to be injected, but many default rooms are this size such as space invaders and the comms room. |

I don't know that there is a physical limit on how small a room can be--I once made a room that was just 280x280, to see if it was possible. And it was. The empty space around it was just black.
There are functional limitations on how big a room should be, though. The floating creature selection panel in the upper left, the favorite place icons, and the control panels on the right all crowd around the edges of the metaroom, rather than the entire screen--so if the metaroom is very small, it will be very crowded, and difficult or even impossible for the player to use the game interface (or interact with anything in the metaroom, as the game interface floats above it).

It's not a hard coded limit. You can easily have a room that's smaller than that, but it won't look very good. The room will be pushed to the upper left hand corner and you'll see huge gaps of blackness around whatever part of the window or screen the room doesn't cover. |

Duno, but I would guess 1x1. It is silly, but might be possible. Didn't experiment with rooms that much.

Doors (the sides of the room) have to be at least 5 units long. So a room has to be 5x5 pixels or larger.
Of course I can imagine your sanity would impose far stricter limits on how large your rooms end up being.

That's the map editor's restrictions though, aren't they? Probably imposed for sanity, but not necessarily an engine limit. If one hand coded a room I imagine it can be a 1x1 room. Someone should test this. |
