Hey everyone,
I posted in the CCSF 2018 forum that I would be willing to 3D print some creatures related figures, paint them, and ship them out, as prizes for the festival. I would work something out with the coordinator beforehand so we would be able to determine how many we would need.
I want to have a lot of lead time on this project because I am getting married in October and things will be busy for sure.
The catch is, I don't know how to 3D model, and I'm still getting used to the printer, so I would need someone to make the models for me.
If you are interested, please let me know and I can work with you. I would of course be willing to print and ship you some of the models you created.
I am looking for something simular to the little norn figs fishing cacrus put out a while back. I have a pair of those myself, and I am thinking of trying to find someone who can "scan" them for me so I could print and paint more. |

I'd happily make some models for you if you liked. Obviously I'd need certain specifications like polycount etc so I could make them optimal for 3D printing but it's something I'd happily help out with. |

Excellent, I will need to do a little poking around to find out what is best. The only things I have done so far are .stl files off thingaverse. |

I'd love to see some norn models on Thingiverse!

Civvi, you might look into sculptris.
Don't forget. Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember her, you are not alone. |

There's a guide here for using Sculptris for 3D models. I also read that it may be cheaper to cut a model into pieces and get each one printed separately, and then to glue them together. But I'm not so sure if that's the best way to go about it.

The cutting in pieces thing isn't a bad idea. It really depends on details and appendages and whatnot.
We have been busy with painting our house and doing wedoing planning stuff, but I hope to screw around d with the printer this week again and get any info we need for modeling. |

Bloodsong's Basic Norn might help you, although I know nothing about 3D printing and even less about converting files.
It was made for a version of Poser that's over a decade old so it might need an export-import chain across three different pieces of software to make it usable on modern programs.
From my (hazy) memory of it, it's a very well-made model and might be something to work with! |

Here's a good demonstration of Bloodsong's Basic Norn in action. |

If I recall correctly, the Dustdevil Grendel 3D model is also free for use and downloadable somewhere on CCaves.
...I would totally love to have a grendel figurine.

This hasn't fallen off my radar, I am just having some issues with my Z-axis and I can't seem to get the thing working again. In the meantime, anyone who wants to make a model, .stl file would probably be best. I am using CURA to do the prints. As far as polycounts, honestly I am not sure. I managed to print something almost round before I broke my axis, so I'm assuming the thing can handle some detail. I'm going to take another whack at fixing it again tonight after work. (I should say my fiance is going to try. I'm the beauty, she's the brains... and the brawn... and the beauty... I'll need to re-assess my role here) |

Thanks for the update, NornBreeder! This sounds like an awesome project. I've never seen a 3D-printed anything before. I'd definitely be interested. |
