I've introduced a friend to the Creatures series recently, and it gave me an idea that would be beneficial to newcomers (and returning members) to the franchise+community. It could just be a post or a forum thread on CC or any other host that would contain the following information:
- A basic explanation of what the Creatures series is about+maybe a brief history
- Where to get the games
- Information on installing docking station for people who got the gog.com release of Exodus, and a link to the offline patch (it doesn't have any info related to this for the GOG page for Exodus, that I found anyway.)
- Links to basic gameplay tutorials
- Links to where to find help with troubleshooting, and a link to the remaster patch for C3/DS
- A blurb about COBs and other mods people have made, and maybe a .zip of some 'ease of life' COBs (with the creators' permission of course)
- Links to relevant pages on the Creatures wiki
Maybe I've just been unlucky with finding a quick-start guide like this, but it seems like all this important information is scattered across the internet or the forums. If anyone knows if a current, no-broken-links version of something like this would be please let me know, and maybe we could pin that information somewhere visible on CC.
I think it's important to have this info all in one easy to find place, to help any potential new-comers who might need help understanding such an amazing unique series like Creatures. If Creatures Family ever comes out, this will be very useful. What are your ideas and thoughts? |

There is a Creatures 3 walkthrough on the Creatures Wiki with some information for DS.
The page on the GOG Creatures Collection covers patches that are needed for the GOG editions.
There's a few 'mixtapes' of recommended addons in the Games Resources section at Creatures Caves.

Nice, thank you! Those are all great resources. I'll share those with anyone I can convince to try out the games
I feel like the series would be interesting to quite a few people. The 90s-aesthetic might appeal to some people, and from what I've seen on Youtube, videos regarding computer learning and neural networks intrigue a lot of people. I think if some big youtuber made a video about it, there would be a quick burst of a few hundred or so people who would try one of the games out.
I don't really have anything else to talk about so here's Google's search traffic for the Creatures game series since 2004, just because.
